Alice Mars Point Of View
After Sarah, Anna and Cyn walked out of the meeting room, I was left with my Parents, Adam, Uncle Warrick and Aunt Aqua. I wanted to follow Big Sis and the others to John's side. However, for some reason, Mother wanted to speak to me? I was genuinely confused on why that might be. Once I finally made it back to the table and sat down, she finally began to explain what it is she wanted to know.
" Alle... Is what she said true?"
" About Matthew? Yes. I mean, it took some time for me to realize it, but yes, I've witnessed some of the things she spoke about."
" Do you hold the same impressions of him?"
" Yes, I do now."
Mother Andrea seemed to find something strange in my answer to her question. I think I knew what it was before she tried to dig deeper into it.
" "Now"? What do you mean by that, Alle?"
It was exactly what I thought it was. It was somewhat embarrassing to think about now that I've grown since first meeting John, but I know Mother will want more of an explanation than that.
" I mean what I said, Mother. When I first met Matthew, I thought the worse of him, I continued to think that way for weeks upon weeks."
" And why did you feel this way, Alle?"
Now, Adam asked me a question. Though unlike Mother Andrea, it looked like he was just genuinely confused. I could see why, after what Big Sis and Anna said, to hear me begin to speak might make him think about this and that, but in reality, I was in the same place as he is now, until I heard that knocking on the door to my assigned room in Zana.
" I felt this way for the same reasons you both did. No, I'd say it was even more extreme, I launched myself at him the very first time I saw him. I thought a Human Spy had made their way into Uncle Warrick's throne room. From the time I spent training with the Promethian Royal Army when Father and I would take off for those joint training events... Let's just say I never truly liked any of the Humans I came across. Then there was that one..."
" You mean the kidnapper?"
" Yes, him. Granted, Father struck him down before he could grab me from my tent, but his face before attempting to grab me was always stuck in my mind. It's strange, it's been years since, but I haven't forgotten it... Until recently... Anyways, I attacked him, Matthew. He fought back; he bested me because I let my anger cloud my mind. But then he started to show me who he really was... Fufu... Well, he tried to... since I made it somewhat awkward."
I began recounting the first time I actually heard John speak for a long time. It was when we all went to Uncle Warrick's office after the little spat we had. John wasn't too sure how to behave around Father and me... No doubt my glaring at him since he hit me with that cheap shot from his Barrier Magic had an effect on me at the time. Listening to his story, I found it somewhat hard to believe, even more so when he said he was able to bring the cuisine from his world to Gaia due to the Ashura Cattle around Diablos. I thought it was all a big lie... Until he mentioned that the ice cream he had was a sweet type of dessert... My stomach won out, when I showed interest because of it. That was the first time I saw him flash a genuine smile... I didn't realize just how much I'd begin to treasure those moments in the future.
" Hah... The ice cream back then was good... I'm so glad that our order is going to be delivered soon."
Father seemed to be in a carefree mood as he thought back on the meeting as well.
