Chapter 447. Boiling Point

" What is his wish? Truly it's something so inconceivably selfish that it would cause all of these rumors to circulate."

Sarah acted as if it was hard to talk about... Well, I suppose it is, since we're technically revealing his greatest wish, but it's not like the people in this room didn't know what it was already. Well, expect for those 2. Sarah dropped the act and began to speak with a serious tone in her voice.

" The thing Our Husband wants is simple. He wants a home for our children."

" What?"

Prince Adam didn't understand what Sarah had said, but Queen Andrea... Her expression, it looked as if she understood what Sarah had said as soon as the words left her lips.

" A home, for our children. Do you know how Demon and Human hybrids are treated in either Diablos or Promethia, Adam?"

Prince Adam looked confused at Sarah's question.

" They're not treated nicely, Adam. For most of our histories, Humans and Demons hated each other. What rare couples did form from us were simply cursed with different miseries. It's been theorized by modern scholars in Diablos that the actual number of half-breeds has actually been hidden."

" Hidden?"

" Yes, if a Human and Demon did end up having children, some thought the pain of watching what their children might go through was too much to bear. So, it's been theorized that Demons and Humans left their countries to find someplace safe for their families. We have no way of knowing however, since the entire point was to keep their children hidden."

" But... Why?"

" The first recorded instance of a Half-Demon Half-Human Hybrid being born was a short tale in the books we found."

" Short how?"

" The newborn babe was ripped from her mother's embrace and skewered on a spear, Adam. And it just gets worse from there. This was recorded in Diablos around 3000 years ago."

" What!? How coul-"

" They could because they hated. And most Demons and Humans still do."

Prince Adam had jumped out of his chair at Sarah's recounting of that horrid story we'd read back during our time training under Aqua. Sarah and I swore then and there that we'd never allow something like that to happen. We thought it best for John not to know about it. He was already swamped with so much work from King Warrick, we didn't wish to burden him with that knowledge as well. Besides, it's not like we'd ever allow it to happen. However, it seemed like it didn't truly matter. John had come to his own conclusions about how our children would be treated were we to have them. Perhaps he doesn't know how bad it was? Maybe he's equating it with some point in his own world's history. But either way, he knows that it's not safe yet to bring our children into this world... And we all know that every step he's taken since arriving in Paradise was to accomplish that simple wish of his, to make sure our children never go through any kind of hardships like what any of the 3 of us could think of.

" I don't understand something though, Sarah? If that truly is his wish, how could that be selfish?"

Prince Adam continued to speak, Sarah quickly answered his question.

" To him, it's selfish because he knows what it means to achieve it. He'll need to create a gigantic change in Diablos. It's not for the betterment of the country; it's simply just for his own family that the change would come. He's already begun to enact that change, in fact, he began to do it by complete accident even before he knew he needed to."

" How?"

" You're just full of questions now, aren't you, Adam? If only you were like this when you spoke to him, maybe you wouldn't have ended up being blinded."
