Chapter 550. Location Of The Enemy

" AHHH!"

" IT HURTS!"

" WHAT IS THIS!"

/ SCREECH! THOOM!/

" We're under attack!"

I yelled quickly as I put more mana into my Barrier. So far, I had Sarah, Anna and Edmon in my Barrier. Ruby and Flare were ahead of us as they were goofing off somewhat... Dammit... I should have told them to not break rank before they left... I can't even tell where the explosions were. Everything is covered in blown up dirt and dust.

" I can't see anything. Sarah! Can you use some Wind Magic to clear the area?"

" I don't know if I should."

" What?"

" What if we clear the area and they bombard us again?"

" Fair point... Okay, plan B!"

Sarah made a good point, it'd be a bad idea to show our position, I quickly agreed with her and used my 2nd idea. A black light formed next to me and then Hank appeared from it.

" Kid! I thought everything was okay!?"

" Turns out I was right on this one! We need to see what's going on! I'll get on your back and form a Barrier so they can't harm us if they attack us. You good to go?"

" I'm always ready to fly!"

Without another word I quickly got onto Hank's back as we prepared for take off. But just as I was about to take off into the air, I heard a noise.

/ Bang! Bang!/

I looked to the source of the sound to see Ruby and Flare had returned to us. They were still on their horses as well... Thank God... I thought I was going to need to look over the battlefield to find them after I looked at the enemy. I quickly opened my Barrier and they walked back into the Barrier.

" Lord Matthew, are you okay!?"

Ruby quickly galloped up to me and called out to ask if I was okay. I thought it was a bit ironic, since I was able to get my Barriers up before the attacks landed near us. I was more worried about the both of them, but it looked as if they were okay. They must've been out of the blast radius. With that, I could take off in earnest knowing that everyone that was around me was safe.

/ Screech! Screech! Thoom! Thoom!/

" I'm perfectly fine, but before I take off, are either of you injured?"

" Uhm... No, the blasts landed behind us, that's why we rushed back so quickly. We thought you were caught up with the attack."

" No, we weren't, but I'm going to keep the Barrier up for now. I'm going to go look at what the enemy attacked us with so I can plan a countermeasure."

" Shouldn't we just wait for the Western Border guards to come to our aid?"

Ruby brought up a decent question. But I didn't like the idea of waiting for them to arrive to save us, there's no guarantee that they even would.

" I'd say that'd be a great idea, but judging by the way that they're attacking us, I doubt we'll last long enough. We need to be proactive now."

It looked like Ruby accepted my answer and didn't seem to question it. With that, I was sure Hank was as ready as I was judging by the way his wings were twitching.

" My Love, are you sure that you're going to be okay?"

" I'm more worried for you 5 right now, just be careful until I get back, I'll keep the Barrier up and the Barrier I'll have around me and Hank should be good enough to protect us."
