Chapter 479. The Experiment

" Yes, stand there."

" Okay. But are you sure this is the best position to be in?"

" More or less. Like I said, this shouldn't end badly, but I guess... Just in case?"

" You really don't sound confident, Uncle Ryan!"

" Relax, I'm just joking around Charlotte, everything's fine!"

Ryan had instructed me to stand around 15 ft away from Charlotte. At the end of the day, Charlotte decided to go through with what Ryan was offering. I guess the offer for being able to finally use magic and possess mana was too tempting for her? I could understand why, I mean, being able to use mana and magic has made my life easier in some aspects. Also, I know that Charlotte was annoyed at the fact that Sarah and Anna were growing into their Jobs and growing in power. Well, not only her, I know Ruby and Emily share similar feelings... Hell, I do to since I've gotten beaten by them the most in sparring. Regardless, we had moved from King Leonard's office and moved to a room with enchantment Runes all around. Del quickly told me that they were for recovery and protection. Knowing that, it was easy to see that the Nyx Family was taking no chances when it came to this once in a life-time experiment. Not only that, but Queen Crystal was using some type of spell that served to help Charlotte in some way and King Leonard had begun chanting some kind of spell in what I assume is Ancient Elvish... Or maybe it's Ancient Dark Elvish? Either way, the magic that was pumping in this room was almost overbearing. I guess it goes to show my growth in a way that I'm able to stand in this room and not only be not affected by the mana to being able to actually help.

" Char, are you sure you want to go through with this!?"

Del called out to Charlotte one more time, ever since Charlotte said she wanted to go through with Ryan's plan. It goes to show how much he really cares about her. Even back when Sarah, Anna and I first arrived in Diablos, he was the first one to assist Charlotte after she tried attacking me. While I thought about that day, Charlotte had turned to look at Del before answering his question. She nodded her head while having a determined look in her eyes.

" Yes! I want to do this! Besides, I trust everyone here, if something goes wrong, I know I'll be okay in the end!"

Del seemed to be speechless from Charlotte's answer. Before he could say anything else, Ryan had received a signal from Queen Crystal.

" Okay, it's time to do this! It's been great to meet everyone! Charlotte! Brace yourself!"

Charlotte did as Ryan asked and I put my hands up and began to channel my mana. I need to be able to cast Holy Heal at a moment's notice after all. Ryan stuck his palms up in front of Charlotte and a red glow began to be emitted from them. The light began to solidify into solid light. He then sent both of the beams of light into Charlotte's chest.

" Ah!... ?"

Charlotte seemed scared as the beams touched her, but judging by her reaction, I don't think the light touching her actually hurt her. That was good.

" Like... I said.... This.... Won't.... Hurt... You...."

Ryan was able to speak to her through gritted teeth. It looks like what he's doing is taking an immense amount of concentration. It just goes to show how much he cares about his family that he still wanted to allay any of their fears. As the beams entered Charlotte, she began to change somewhat. Her body began to be enveloped in Ryan's light and she began to glow a strong vibrant red color. Before long, the beams of light coming from Ryan's palms had weakened grew dimmer by the second. Then, after a bit of time had passed, the light died out, it was like all of it transferred to Charlotte's body. However, that didn't mean that this experiment was over. An ear splitting sound accompanied the light around Charlotte's body beginning to thrash, pull and push against itself like a raging whirlpool.
