Aaron Morgan's Point Of View
" But Sir, there has to be something we could do?"
" Silence! Your time to do something was back on the battlefield, soldier. Now all that's left is to bide our time."
" Bide our time? They're going to take us back and torture us to death! You've heard the stories, Lieutenant Colonel!"
" Again, don't be a fool, those are just horror stories told to the recruits. Even if that was true, then we'd already have been beaten by them at the least."
This conversation have been going on for the past 3 days, we've all been caught. Its a small group of us, 51 in total. We were captured and forced in these handcuffs that lock away our mana. Because of that, we're somewhat helpless against the enemy. Demons in general are the physically strongest Race here on Gaia, though I've heard tales of the Dragonkin being able to match them, but the Dragonkin haven't been seen in a long time. Even the Elders don't have an answer for that question.
" So what? We just sit here and wait for what ever they're going to do to us? Torn limbs? Eat us? No! We need to find a way out! A way to esc-"
/ Thump!/
" Quiet down! You're embarrassing yourself! We are Elves! The time to act was on the battlefield and we failed! Now we're here and we're helpless! Don't you get it? We can do nothing! Look at the guards outside of this damn cage! They're looking for a reason to do what you're so afraid of! Don't you wonder why they're not forcing us to quiet ourselves? They want us to act irrational so they have a convenient excuse to tell their leadership."
Lieutenant Colonel Lee seemed to finally have had enough and he smacked the soldier that's been acting as the leader of the foot soldiers during this journey to the demon's home country. He also seemed to tell them what I've been suspecting ever since I woke up without any discomfort or pain when I breathed.
" Excuse? What do you mean, Lieutenant Colonel?"
Another of the soldiers who had looked as if he had accepted that he was being shipped off into his own death seemed to snap out of his mind's haze and asked Lieutenant Colonel Lee about what he had just said.
" What do I mean? Are you idiots even noticing what's happening?"
" ..."
The group seemed clueless... Really, do they try their hardest not to pay attention? Especially if you compare it to the stories? The Lieutenant Colonel seemed to have reached his boiling point. No doubt the failures we've had along with the soldier's complaining.
" Think about this. We were all injured in different ways, some of us had limbs missing. Yet we were all healed by the Paladin. Right after he healed his men. From there, we've been fed the same meals as diablos's own soldiers. We're given water as well as given time to sleep. Hell we're not even walking, we're in a cage made of Earth Magic and these strange vines to transport us. They're not going to be torturing us, at least not yet."
" Then what do they want with us? Why bring us back?"
" The lot of you? No idea. Myself and Sir Aaron? They'll be looking for information from us, the same way we tried to gain knowledge from the Paladin back when King Maximus kicked off this war."
Lieutenant Colonel Lee seemed to have come to the same conclusion that I had. The only issue was that I was a Private in the Army, I wasn't privy to any of the knowledge that the demons would be after. I must've been saved under the idea that I was a High-Ranking Member of the Army because I led our men in the 2nd assault against the demons. That was a mistake by them, but I have no desire to correct their mistake.
