                                                                  John Ericsson's Point Of View

" After beheading an Elf, the first waves of our men were able to force back the other guard of the cave, granted, 2 of our men lost an arm each, but the guard had to run back into the cave from the advancement of Team 1. With that done, Earth Magic was used to seal the cave from the inside. From there, a few teams were sent out to try and make an escape, but our squads were able to nail them down with arrows and magic. That was the first day and it went just as planned, minus the 2 injured, but this is a battle so it was expected."

" If they have their arms still, have someone fetch them and bring them to me, I'll heal them up before we make our way to the next phase."

" Speaking of which, Phase 2 has been proceeding smoothly as well. Just like you suggested, after being boxed in, they decided to engage in combat with Squads 1 through 20. So far the fighting has gone on for a day and a half and they are slowly pushing their way here. The losses for both sides haven't been tallied, but it seems to be in the expected projections. As sad as that is for our own men."

" Good, good... Continue following the plan, as long as no true hiccups come up, we should be able to finish this in around 3 or so days. Thank you for the report, Lieutenant George."

" Just following orders, Sir. I'll see to those 2 amputees make their way to you."

/ FLAP!/

With Lieutenant George's report finished, he quickly left the tent. Judging by what he had to say, I'm guessing he's going to personally bring the 2 injured Demons to me to heal. He's the type that seems to really care about the people under him. I thought that was nice to see. Maybe I was alone in my thinking, however?

" Did he think you forgot your offer?"

" Not just that, but the gall to be surprised that the plan is working..."

" Why can't I go out and fight to..."

Wait, that last one wasn't even about Lieutenant George? The people in the tent seemed to be of the mind that Lieutenant George was an enemy or something similar. To me, I thought he was simply a guy trying to make the best out of a shitty situation, if anything, I felt a sense of comradery with him, even if he didn't particularly feel something like that from me.

" I don't understand why you act so neutral around him, it's fine to treat him how you really feel, My Love."

" I am, Sarah. Just because he scolded me a few days ago, that doesn't mean he's a bad guy, I think of it as a bit of the opposite actually."

" Oh, is that so, Darling? How exactly do you view him then?"

" Like he's just trying to get the job done. I can't say I don't appreciate that compared to all the others we've run into having to do this and that over the past 2 years. He doesn't seem to care too much about me being a Human for now, he seems to care much more about finishing this operation and getting his men home, I can appreciate that. To the point where I almost feel bad about the plan."

" There's no need to feel bad about what we're going to do, My Love. It's the perfect thing to do."

" I know, but still, their personal feelings about me aside, these men and women are fighting for their homeland, and I'm planning to take advantage of that... Still, it needs to be done. We decided to do it, so we'll see it through."

" Exactly, Darling."

Sarah and Anna didn't seem too convinced about my impression about Lieutenant George. After speaking to them for a bit, I seemed to raise their moods a bit. Currently we were sitting in a tent in the middle of a field that we made into the base of operations for our army. It was around 4 miles away from the cave, far enough that we couldn't be seen, but close enough that if there were any emergencies we'd hear about them before it could get out of hand. Inside the tent, aside from Sarah, Anna and I, there was also Ruby, acting as a guard for us, along with 8 guards stationed outside the tent to watch from all directions. Flare and Edmon were currently off doing their assignments. Ruby was able to finish her assignments in the morning, so we just decided to keep her near us under the idea that she's our " guard". It worked well enough, but I can't help but notice that the male soldiers keep looking at me with a different emotion than disgust now, it seems to be jealousy. Apparently, Ruby has become popular in the few days we've been at the Western Border and now here.
