Chapter 517. Day Guard Duty

" Jarvis! You're on watch duty now! Switch with Coleman!"

" Understood!"

With the command from Sergeant Goose, my meal was officially over.

" Looks like no dessert for you, Jarry!"

" Shame, I hear the cake isn't too bad today."

" I don't have a sweet tooth anyways. How could you even want to eat something like that stuck in this fucking cave all day?"

" It's easy if you can use Earth Magic, but I guess a Fire Magic user wouldn't get it? Anyways, enjoy Day Watch."

I stood up since there was no real reason to continue arguing. Joseph and Ty were all too happy to wave me off as my Guard Duty was about to start. Honestly, being stuck in this damn cave for months was way worse than having to fight these imbecilic lower lifeforms. I still don't quite understand why we can't just charge through those giant gates of theirs, we can easily blast it down with the power of our magics and then we can happily conquer. It's not like we'd need to worry about any of their top player. King Maximus could handle that foolish defensive turtle Warrick in his sleep, Cain could handle Warrick's wife... What was the bitch's name?... It started with an A right? They briefed us.... Aqua... Aqua was the name... For any combatant that the Demons could throw at us, we had an answer that could easily solve it. Then there's the Human... All this noise over a pathetic Human. So weak he was caught in the opening explosion and then Princess Eve decided to pick him up just to see if we could learn anything important. Now we're down a Royal Torturer, a guard, a squad of archers and our Ancestors are burned. Foolishness and folly... Now we're here in this cave and for what? To observe and destroy when we find out moment? What a ridiculous order. Just slaughter them and then onto the next country that's a part of this alliance, then in time take this continent from these foolish, weak races. Nothing but complaints filled my mind as I made my way out of the cave to the back entrance.

" Ah, Sander, good to see ya!"

As I made it outside, there were 3 Elves grouped together, no doubt it was the previous 2 guards and now my assigned partner for the night. All 3 of them carried the traditional look of us Elves, The only true difference for the girls were the fact that Cecila had her hair cut short in a pixie cut, I believe the name is and Pana had a side ponytail. The first to greet me was Cecila, she and Pana were the guards for the Night Watch, and it looks as if Pana was being switched with Sir Aaron. Well, that's somewhat interesting I suppose... Still, I'd rather Mariah be my partner, but I suppose that'd be a bit too lucky... Oh, if only I could find a way as a Private to get a Corporal to work as my partner. Maybe then being cooped up in this cave would be worth it? Still though, being able to work next to a Knighted Officer is still an honor. Granted, he's just a Private like me, but for some reason, he decided to enlist in the Royal Army right before this operation began. He's stuck to himself for the most part so far, I wonder why that is? Anyways, I should respond to Cecila, it'd be rude to just leave her hanging with no response.

" Good work, Albrant, I see you and Clease had a long night."

" Yeah, it was kind of boring for the most part, only a few squirrels ran around."

" I can't tell if that's a good or a bad thing."

" Tell me about it... I wish something would happen already."

" Yeah, we let those 2 demons run away a few weeks back and they still haven't crawled back here. Why'd we even let them live if they won't even unstick their tails between their legs and come back and fight. So much for brave demons of diablos, it's just like my Mother always said, the only time there's a good demon is when they're dead."
