" Hahahaha!"

" More beer over here, Cadet!"

" Don't cut in line you bastards! Everyone's hungry!"

" The fucking paper sucked today!"

" And then I told her, Hunny, I got 5 hands for a reason! Hahahaha!"

The ruckus that's filled our ears was a bit all over the place, the mess hall here at the Western Border was anything but quiet. From laughter, to requests made to passing waiters for drinks and the complaints that one could hear anywhere at any place. The liveliness of the mess hall almost made it seem like a huge battle wasn't on the horizon. The enemy could be watching this base from the shadows that are offered from the trees and mountains that sit right outside of our Nation's Borders, usually those places are domains for wild animals and strong Monsters, but from what we could see, the wild Monsters and animals seemed to have sensed that a true war is looming, and they've all but disappeared from their usual habitats. And here Anna and I sat, obsessively watching over John like hawks, looking for any hint that a different enemy, but one all the same was inside this Military Base, that they may try to harm him. Ever since Anna and I heard what My Parents had to say, we knew that the coalition of fools would reach out to their foolish subordinates and try something while we were here. We sat at an elevated position, befitting someone of John's Rank, and by proxy, us His Wives. We sat at this small table for us, to the right of the table that sat the leadership of this Border, Chief Sharp sat at the middle of the table, surrounded by the 2 Captains we've met and the one who've we've yet to see introduce himself, but that was neither here nor there, Besides that, we sat at an elevated position that no doubt resembled a stage, a good place for the Leadership to be viewed by the common soldier. Directly in front of us were the Lieutenants along with a couple of their Squad Captains. From there, there were rows and rows of tables for the common soldiers to have their meals. The mess hall gave a feeling for all of the soldiers that everyone was in this together. I heard that sharing meals was a good way to create a bond between soldiers and their Leadership, but I wouldn't be too familiar with the concept at the moment... Besides that didn't matter at the minute, what mattered most was John... For that... We sat and watched, all of Anna's eyes searching for anything that could be seen as suspicious. Every glance at us as we sat at our table, any kind of smile or wink to a person's friend, ever inch moved closer to our positions could mean a threat, and if it was, if it got close, that was unacceptable. He will never be poisoned again now that we could watch over him, uninterrupted unlike that journey to the Northern Border.

/ Munch... Munch.../

" Wow, this is pretty good actually..."

And while Anna and I were so busy watching over everything, there he is, happily eating the food we were served, granted, Anna did give it a once over to make sure that there was no poison to be concerned about. We didn't tell him about it, nor would it matter since the food was perfectly normal. Just a simple hearty stew with dry, hard bread with a decent supply of butter I had brought out since he had asked for it. I admit, the butter definitely helps to complete the meal. However, the way in which he showed no hesitation as he took his first spoonful of stew was interesting to see. It's almost as if he's completely forgotten about the poisoning incident. It most likely has to do with the fact that he knows that Anna and I would tell him if there was an issue with the food... Still, I don't like how readily he chose to bite into that stew... Perhaps a little punishment tonight is in order? That would be a good way to pay Anna and I back for all of the work we're currently doing...
