                                                                   Ruby Flameskin's Point Of View

" This destruction... What could do this? There's no way a Mage could maintain these kind of spells for long..."

" I don't even think My Mother could do something like this. It's not right."

Anna and Sarah were speculating about what we were currently seeing. John had been gone for a few minutes already and the explosions hadn't stopped yet. The 5 of us remained in the Barrier that John had made to protect the 4 of them from the initial blast. I was chasing Flare at the time since she was attempting to tease me. It all seems so distant now as I look at the destruction from outside of the Barrier. So many of our Brothers and Sisters are either screaming from pain or dead. The ones that are still fine are trying to help the ones who're injured. Thankfully, the explosions have seemed to stop, though there's a sense of dread from wondering when the next bombardment will come.

" What's taking him so long?"

" The Elves must be farther than we thought. We need to just wait for him, Flare."

" He's on his way back."

Flare and Edmon were talking to each other, the end of their conversation reached my ears as I finally could shake the sights I've just seen from my mind. Just as I was about to say something to them myself, Anna quickly spoke to them. I looked at her to see that she had closed her eyes and was concentrating. Sarah was simply watching her calmly as Anna wiggled the eyes on her body.

" He is? Is he okay?"

The words left my mouth before I could even process what I was asking.

" Yes, he's fine Ruby, they're trying to hit him with spells in the sky, but he's been able to either dodge them thanks to Hank's flying ability or he quickly summons a Barrier to block the spell. He'll be back in a few minutes. The attacks however are not coming from the West like we thought they would, instead they're coming from the South."

" How far away are they?"

" About 2 miles, it won't take long to get there if we decide to run to them. We'll need to see how many of our troops are still alive first. As well as if Darling will want to fight or not."

" Right, he might just want to grab as many of the injured as he can and head back to the Border... But those explosions... They might not be something that he'll ignore... I suppose we should prepare for battle?"

" Yes, I think so."

Sarah and Anna had been talking for a moment as Flare and Edmon listened to them, meanwhile I was looking at the skies to the South, I could barely make out a tiny black dot in the clouds, that must be John. He was coming towards us! That's great! He's okay! Also, I don't see any spells coming from behind him! The enemy must've stopped firing at him!

" There he is!"

I pointed to him so that everyone else could see him. Flare and Edmon quickly came up to my side so they could see him as well.

" Yeah! The dot is getting bigger! Good, he's okay!"

" I wasn't worried at all, no way he'd have gotten hurt from the Elves while flying!"

Edmon and Flare both had quite different reactions to John's return. Granted, I think that Flare was lying to us, judging by how hard she was nibbling on her bottom lip from nervousness, I think it's safe to say she was just as worried as the rest of us. With his arrival imminent, Sarah and Anna began to stretch to prepare themselves for the fights to come. I decided to join them, since there wasn't much else to do as we waited for John to make his way back. Eventually, all 5 of us had begun to stretch as John made his way back. After a few minutes of stretching, the Barrier made an opening at the top of it and a black mass of feathers shot straight into the Barrier like a crushing waterfall.
