Chapter 430. Meeting Again After So Long

" See? I told you not to get all bent out of whack. They're here now!"

" But they're late."

" They probably had something come up. You've been working with Aunt Pena, you know how chaotic governing can be, Asha."

" Yeah, you should listen to Sharon, Asha. How do you think he's going to feel if the first thing you do after not seeing each other in 2 years is to yell at him for being a tad bit tardy? Remember, you still need to appeal to him."

Sharon was trying to calm my frustration now that we saw the portal beginning to open. And then Cyn, who's been lucky enough to not only visit Paradise multiple times, but she also has been here when he's visited Uncle Warrick and Aunt Aqua... It's almost more aggravating to hear someone who's been so fortunate telling me to just stay patient... I'm pretty sure Mother told me that Aunt Aqua has said that Cyn has made it a habit in her letters from the Acadamy to ask about spending her vacations in Paradise... Yet she says I need to relax!? I wasn't even allowed to leave our home because of the work we've had to do for the oncoming war! Same as Sharon! And now we're here, waiting in Uncle's office while he's in a meeting dealing with some of the issues that have come up with the positioning of soldiers at our borders...

" Wow... 3 more people might be pushing it a bit..."

And there they are! Sarah, Anna and Princess Charlotte! Someone I've yet to spend much time with, but I've heard quite a bit about her. Sarah and Anna have been quite informative in their letters... Along with Alle's musings while she was here in Blackstone. I've mixed feelings about her myself. Mostly due to her being another rival, but also because of how lucky she is... Being able to work under John as his subordinate and being able to have dinner with him everyday... I'm quite envious, though at the same time, hearing her story from Sarah and Anna and why they were willing to bring her with them... I'd like to befriend her... But above those feelings... Is something more important.

" AH!"

/ Swish.../

I launched a basic fireball at him. He's acting so nonchalant even though we were all so worried over these past 2 months!

" Uhm... Asha? Do people normally launch fireballs as a hello in Diablos?"

" No... Only at those who've been keeping people waiting! Hmph!"

" Well... We tried to stop her, right, Sharon?"

" Maybe we didn't do enough?"

I could hear Sharon and Cyn commenting, but I can't help it... I mean, he comes here, after being kidnapped! And he wobbles around like there's no real issue! Has he learned anything!? And what makes it even worse for me... Is the fact that I'm relieved that he can still act like that! He makes me so frustrated, and nothing has changed since 2 years ago... Now I'm remembering those frustrating letters when we started to correspond after he arrived in Paradise... Honestly, how can't he take all of the hints! Even worse... All of the qualities he's listed as Sharon and I dragged them out of him... They all describe women that are unlike any woman from Diablos I've ever met! Including Sarah, Anna, Sharon, Cyn... ME! It's all coming back to me now. And then... The absolute gall of the question that always follows when he can't figure out what made us angry.

" Asha... Did I do something wrong?"

" And there it is!"

Why does he always do this!? Why can't I control myself around him!? Why can't I be more like Sharon!? There's no way this'll make him think better of me!
