Garth Fairsword's Point Of View
" !"
" Relax you fool! It's a pigeon for the love of the Gods!"
" Ah... You're right, Sir, my apologies, it's just... It's my first campaign..."
" Hm? As if that's an excuse, Private. You're a Proud Elf are you not?"
" I... Yes, Sir?"
" That lack of confidence in your voice says otherwise. This is a Holy War for us, Lad. Yes, the demons may be fierce, the beastmen may be ferocious and those dirty, filthy dark elves may be clever, but we've rose above them time and time again through Our Nation's Great History, Keep your head held high, remember the plight of our Glorious Ancestors and fight with conviction, Private. That's how we'll win this War."
" Ah... Yes, Sir!"
" Good."
Honestly, these peasants and their foolish worries, why sign up for this if you're going to feel terror as we simply return to our outpost? Honestly, all of this just because Allen, Junie and Chris couldn't stop a siege? Foolishness... I knew I shouldn't have left... Though now that I've attended to that business, well, allowing anyone to see the smirk I so desperately want to make wouldn't be a good thing. It would ruin the surprise for everyone... However, now that the work behind us was finished, I needed to look ahead, breaking a siege shouldn't be too hard, along with the 600 men following me, we should be able to engage and break the enemy down. If there's any hiccups, I'll be able to handle it. Granted, I don't understand what Allen is thinking, he should be able to get out of this situation quite easily...
" Sir... Do... Do you have any other advice?"
" Oh, interested to learn, are you? I suppose the most important thing I could ever tell you is that you need to focus and remember your training."
" I see..."
" Oh, you don't sound too convinced?"
" Well... It's just that, everyone in either the High Elf Blades or The 10 Great Elves, you all have such... Flashy, powerful, destructive techniques... When you tell me to just focus on my swordsmanship and mana control... It just... Seems like there's a secret you don't want to let slip."
" Hm..."
Maybe this commoner isn't too bad... Now that I look at his eyes, he reminds me of Allen... Granted, Allen is a Noble like myself, but still, those that are special commoners can grow to become Nobles. However, he's not ready to know about how we of the 10 Great Elves have such powerful abilities, even if it is built on our hard work... I suppose I should give him some advice.
" While it's true that I, along with others have somewhat special magic from our blood, or from luck with our Jobs, it's all built on the back of hard work and training. To use powerful magic, it requires that much more precise mana control. As long as you remember the basics and continue to train, you'll grow stronger and stronger, there are people that have gotten to such high positions through only hard work. That's how General Janus got to her position after all. That's also how Allen has reached his ranking as well."
" Really? All through hard work?"
" Yes. Your training will never betray you after all, I still train in the mornings myself, from swordsmanship to meditation, I only ever skip my morning training if it is absolutely necessary, which unfortunately, these past few days has caused me to skip."
" I... I see..."
The young solider seemed to be touched by my words. I've given this advice before, most clearly to the 3 I've brought with me here to diablos, it's true as well. Allen and Chris have worked their ways up with hard work. Junie is a bit of an exception, he's talented as well, but he doesn't skip out on training.
