Chapter 478. Symbols, Runes And Dying Wishes

" Hm... So you think that it was the base of the the Elves that attacked you back then?"

" Thank you for saving Char, John."

" No need to thank me."

After finishing the explanation about the cabin we found, My Mother quickly thanked John for saving me from the trap that began to hurt me. The pain from then was almost unbearable, it felt like millions of knives all spinning inside of me and trying to burrow out of me. Thankfully, John was able to use his mana along with Cynthia's to save me. Father seemed a bit puzzled by our explanation about the cabin.

" Father, what's the matter?"

I asked him about what was on his mind. My Father thought about his answer before explaining the look on his face.

" It's just... The symbols... Runes... By chance do you have a copy of them?"

" Hang on, I do."

John reached into a pocket on the chest of the vest he was wearing, he took out a piece of paper and began to unfold it, what was on it were the 2 symbols in the center of the enchantment circle back in the cabin.

" Hmm... This is strange..."

Father squinted his eyes as he looked at the symbols.

" What about them seem weird? I mean, Charlotte did say that the Runes were customized, but is it truly that weird?"

" Yes, it'd be almost like customizing the letters in a written word. If you're not careful, the original word you wrote might not even be readable to someone. In the same way, if you do it to these enchantments, that means they wouldn't work... But for some reason, they still affected My Daughter... That doesn't make much sense..."

" Not exactly."

Uncle Ryan seemed to disagree with Father's explanation."

" What do you mean, Uncle?"

My Father quickly looked to Uncle Ryan to see what it was he had meant.

" This Symbol, it's not normal Enchantment magic... Well, I suppose that's obvious to see... I think this is a seperate magic system rather than the Enchantment Magic you're thinking of, Nephew?"

" Why do you sound like you're not sure about it as well?"

" I've been held captive for so long, I'm not sure how much has really changed when it comes to Alfheim. However, I've met many people skilled in Enchantment Magic and they've never changed the Runes before. The only answer I can come to from see this, is that it's a seperate system. Maybe they've evolved it in the years since I've last run into it? Either way, you should probably send Enchantment Specialists to research this. We might need to know how to deal with this in time... Well, I suppose I should say you all might need it."

" I'll make a team to set out with John and Charlotte immediately."

Father and Uncle seemed to agree on the course of action I thought would be best to take. With that, the conversation seemed to be over, until a certain someone began to speak to Uncle. 

" What do you mean by that, Ryan?"

With a tone of concern, John quickly ignored what the conversation was about and focused on the end of what Uncle Ryan said. Uncle Ryan looked at John and began to speak.

" John... The man know as Ryan Nyx has died. He died from the explosion he created to allow you to escape from the dungeon you both met in. All I am is a Magic Spell he used that copied of his personality and memories, which was then entrusted to you. I existed solely to pass on the information he wished for his family to see. Now that I've completed that mission, the spell that I'm made of will disperse and that will be the end."
