Two Fools in Love: Book 3

In this moment

"I'm sure everything's fine.  Just give it a day and see what happens.  Do you feel any differently?"

"No not really.  I mean I feel sick but that's only because I'm so nervous about.. what could happen."

"I'm sure you're not.. and if you are.. well let's not talk about that.  You're not!"

Kenley nodded her head and stayed silent.

The next day before school Kenley spoke to her parents.

"Mom.. dad.. after school, would it be okay if I went to the library with Noah?"

Sarah gives her a stern look.

"I know!  I know what you're thinking, but I promise you I have learned my lesson.  We really are going to study."

"Kenley, I swear to God if you're lying to me, I will-"

"I swear I'm not!  We won't do anything!"

Sarah looks at Evan and he nods.
"You go but be back by dinner."

"Yes ma'am."

"Hey!" Sarah raises her voice and Kenley quickly turns around.

"I mean it!" She points her finger.

"I know!  I promise I'll be back!"

At school Noah saw John and Kenley, John walked the other way because since the whole thing between them happened he hasn't really been talking to Noah.

"Hey.. did you get it?"

"Shh!  No, I haven't.  Noah, I can't take not knowing.  I asked my mom if you and I could go to the library.  I need you to come with me to buy and take a test."

"Okay.  I just need to let my mom know I won't be home right after school."

That morning his parents gave him his phone back, so he was able to call them and let him know where he would be.

Kenley and Noah walked to the nearest drugstore.
They went back stared at the pregnancy tests.

"Which one do we buy?" Kenley asks.

"I think these work the best.. but I only have five bucks with me!" Noah says.

Kenley grabs a clear blue and looks around before sticking it in her backpack.

"What are you doing?!" Noah whispers loudly.

"Quiet!  I need to know for sure."

Noah sighs and turns the other way.

They walk out of the store like nothing.

"Where are we going now?" Noah asks.

"I don't know." Kenley answers not slowing down.

They somehow end up at a park.

"Well how are you gonna take it here?  There's not even a port a potty around here." Noah looks around.

"I'll just go behind that tree over there."

"You're nuts!"

"Come on!"

Kenley throws down her backpack, takes the test out and runs to the tree.
Noah sighs and picks it up before following her.

"Don't look!" She whines as Noah just stared at her.

"Oh now you're modest?" He scoffs.

"Stop it, this is different!"

"Alright." Noah sighs and turns around.

He hears a soft trickle and birds chirping.

"Alright I'm done.  Here, hold this, please." Kenley hands him the test and pulls her pants up.

"What do we do now?"

"We wait till it says pregnant or not pregnant."

"Okay.."

"Let's go sit."

They walk to a bench nearby and sit down.
Noah places the test on their lap and they stare at it in silence.

"Is it working?" Noah asks because it's still on the little sandglass timer.

"I think so."

What felt like an hour passed and finally the test was fished.
It read Pregnant 5-6, which meant she was about five to six week pregnant.

"Oh my gosh." Kenley's voice was unlike Noah has ever heard.

"Dammit!" Noah shouts.

"Noah, what are we gonna do?" She cries.

"I don't know.  This can't be happening!"

"Noah, we can't be parents!  We're too young!"

"I don't know what to say."

"Noah, our lives are over!"

"I know. Shit! We're dead, Ken. DEAD!

Kenley covers her face and begins sobbing.
Noah just sits there without showing her any kind of support.
In a way he was mad at her.  Because of her his life would change forever.
Of course they were both responsible for what's happening.  However in this moment he can't help but be angry with her.  Today in the park where they played when they were kids, life hit them hard.  Right now in this moment, their lives have changed.  Forever.

How should they tell their parents?
I was thinking maybe they keep it to themselves for a while.
Also I know those tests are usually behind a glass but let's pretend they're not! 😂
