This was requested by Wingstar on Quotev, I've waited two years to do this request so I kinda went all out...hehe...hope you guys enjoy your daily dose of our favorite grumpy Lantern.
You were in the middle of taking a Spanish quiz when your ring went off.
"Crap, crap, crap" you finished the quiz quickly, cheating with your ring, before handing it to your teacher.
"Can I go to the bathroom please?" You ask, your teacher, who was female. Took one look at your panicked face and nodded."Don't worry about it, it creeps up on us sometimes" she whispers, you thanked her before walking briskly out of the school and dodging teachers. You ended up in a secluded area and transformed, heading straight to Oa, on your way you saw your Uncle Hal.
"Hey Uncle Hal! What's up?!" You call.
"Hey sunshine, just crashed a billion dollar jet and had to leave Carol hanging. I swear these rings interrupt at the worst of times. What about you?"
"Had to finish up my spanish quiz, hopefully this won't take too long" you respond.
"Knowing the guardians...it probably will" Hal sighs."They aren't that bad"
"You think that now, you're still a newbie you know"
"And you still act like one" you shoot back with a grin, letting him know you didn't mean it. You two reached Oa soon enough.
"Hal Jordan and (Y/N) (L/N) of earth"
"Silak of who's name escapes me at the moment" Hal greets."Sorry I can't remember either, just got my brain fried from a Spanish quiz and AP math test back to back" you answer pointing to your head. Silak nodded.
"Understandable." Your Uncle Hal tried to greet Kilowog with a fistbump but he just glared at him."Hi Kilowog" you greet, he smiles a bit and gives you a gentle noogie.
"Hey there Cookie" Kilowog overheard your Uncle call you a tough cookie once because of your determination, so Kilowog made that nickname for you official. Hal just looks betrayed that Kilowog hated him and you showed up and he was all smiles.
"Is there something wrong?" You ask, "did Uncle Hal screw something up again?"
"You'll see"
-Timeskip-
Your Uncle Hal did screw up, just as he was getting yelled at a green lantern ring fell out of the sky. You stepped back in shock as Hal picked it up, you were still a wide-eyed recruit and just the thought of a dead green lantern scared you. It scared you even more that there was a Frontier Space where other Green Lanterns were dead too. Guardian Gatha lead you guys out, suggesting a coffee break. You were silent, just following your godfather, uncle and one of the guardians. You were trying to sort out everything in your head, as you held your backpack. Yes, you brought your backpack with you. It was more ready for Lantern missions than anything, all your schoolwork was in your locker and you were still new. Your backpack was more of a reassurance than anything, it contained most of your personal items, like your phone. Along with smoke bombs and other things so you didn't have to rely on your ring all the time, you got the recipe from the second robin, a friend from Earth. You finally noticed that Gantha brought you guys to a ship called the Interceptor.
-Timeskip-
You, Hal and Kilowog boarded the Interceptor. Immediately Hal began flirting with Aya and you couldn't help but facepalm. It wasn't long before the Guardians came, Hal convinced Aya to go into Ultra Warp with words you would never forget.
"Green Lanterns risk their lives to save the lives of others" you never considered what you did risky, it was just a part of your life. Of course when you went into ultra warp it was a shaky ride and you just sat in a seat and clung to the edges, praying to not die.You didn't, but it quickly became a rescue mission when the G.L was nearby. You stashed your bag and got ready for fighting. As soon as you flew out you got attacked by...something.
