Gaara x Reader [Drabble]

Requested by Naturewarrior300, I'm seriously procrastinating rn 

"Hey, can I sit up here with you?"

Gaara turned his head, while he killed that Sound Village scum, you seemed to have come on the other side of the building. He recognized you from the Chunin exams, you were from the Leaf Village. If you were here to kill him, he would easily be able to defeat you. He nodded a silent permission and you brightened.
"Gee thanks! So Gaara right? What do you think of the Leaf Village so far?" You ask happily as you valuted over to sit next to him.

"Tch, why do I have to answer that?"
"Geez, I was just trying to make conversation, your whole squad made it through the Preliminaries after all. Even if you're kinda jerks to everyone I never met someone from the Sand Village before." You answer happily as you kicked your feet back and forth, Gaara watched you for a moment, the rest of your squad quit and you didn't even have to fight considering that you were in a three way match between Sakura and Ino. In that moment, Gaara wondered how powerful you were, you saw him fight against Lee. Yet here you were, chatting like you were friends.

"So lemme guess, the Leaf village is boring compared to the Sand Village huh?" You ask curiously after a moment, Gaara continued to stare at you, his eyes narrowing the slightest.

"I'll take that as a yes, but I think I know something that will change your mind" you got up and began to hop a few buildings away.

"Hey! What're you waiting for?! Come on!" You grinned and waved, making Gaara sigh. He still wondered if you were here to kill him. He jumped and landed on the building you were on.
"Shouldn't you be sleeping?"
"Nah, I don't really sleep at night, I usually get all my sleep done throughout the day. In a few hours I'll take one of my two hour naps, and I could ask the same about you." You answer a teasing glint in your eye as you began to jump the buildings again, Gaara following you. You seemed mighty proud of yourself as you led him to this mysterious location, he wondered if this was a trap of some kind.

"We're here!" You announce happily, he must've zoned out because you were on top of the mountain. You sat on the ledge with your legs dangling over the edge, beckoning Gaara to sit. He decided to entertain you.
"This is my favorite part of the Leaf village, you can see everyone and everything from here. It's fun to watch people just being people, makes you feel like that maybe you aren't alone." You sigh as you watched the going ons of the village. It was surprising how many people were still out considering the lateness of the evening.

"It sounds kinda stalker-ish huh?" You ask with a small sweatdrop, you barely even knew him, he was probably gonna laugh at you any minute.

"Why did you bring me here?" Gaara asked while looking out at the Leaf Village.

"Well...you looked lonely...I figured we could be friends" his gaze slid over to meet yours, crap! Was I going on too strong?! I probably was! Dammit now he's gonna think I'm extra weird!

"I...I mean if you want to that is...b...but then again t...that is w..what the Chunin exams a...are for..."
"You want to be my friend, even after everything? You barely even know me, this is some kind of trick isn't it?"
"It's not a trick I swear! I just...I thought that maybe...we could be lonely together...I mean, it doesn't matter what you do in the past, it matters what you do to make up for it in the future right?" You ask hopefully, Gaara turned back to the village streets.

"Fine, we'll be friends"

"Really? Thank you!" You gave him a side hug. Gaara's eyes widened as he immediately stiffened, were you going to attack him? What was your angle on this? "W...what are you doing?" "H...hugging you...this is what friends do right?...Do you want me to-" He held your arm to keep you from pulling away. "No, not yet" your face turn pink but you smiled anyway, you finally had a friend, a real friend. Gaara finally relaxed as he leaned against you a little, his hand still on your arm.
