Midnight x Reader- Soulmate AU- Swapped Magic

"Hey (Y/N), everything ok?" Natsu asks as everyone was familiarizing each other inside Master Bob's mansion. You have no idea why Master Makarov chose you for this mission, like sure your brand of magic was powerful, but you couldn't exactly do super powerful spells like everyone else. You were on Levy's team before Makarov chose you to go on this mission, well because you had shadow creation magic, though it was strongest when shadows were readily available. You did have the ability to absorb the essence of shadows and store them for later, though you couldn't for very long. If you held shadow essence for a super long time then it would start to drive you crazy and become paranoid, you almost attacked Levy once because of the shadows making you think she was a monster that was ready to hurt you. But since you were probably going into battle soon you wanted to take as many shadows as possible before it started so maybe you could create a powerful construct that would be somewhat useful, though there was a problem, your magic wasn't working.

"No, my magic isn't working for some stupid reason"
"Weird, let me try" Natsu's fist almost immediately lit up in flames.
"So there's no anti-magic barrier"
"What about anti-magic barriers?" Jurra asks from behind you two, you yelped a little out of surprise and jumped back.

"Oh, (Y/N) can't do her usual shadow stuff" Natsu answers nonchalantly.
"Strange, perhaps your soulmate is in the area"
"I hope not, the Oracion Seis are here, remember? I don't want them getting hurt"

"Well if you're soulmate does get into trouble we'll save them! Ain't that right Happy?!"
"Aye sir!"

"Guys! I literally just got here and-" crap! I can't use my magic and those Oracion Seis guys are attacking my friends, good thing I didn't come unarmed you thought, pulling out your knives.

"Natsu! Don't attack the guy that's snoring! You don't know how powerful he-"

"Fire Dragon Roar!"
"Agh!"
"Midnight...? You ok?"
"I can't believe that lame guild wizard actually got you Midnight, what are you giving him a freebie?" The Cobra guy taunted as the Midnight guy got up, slightly charred.
"I'm fine" your eyes locked for a second, you felt something, something you never felt before. You couldn't describe it, but it was a warm tingle all over your whole body. You couldn't stop staring at him, and it seemed he couldn't stop staring at you either. Is he offended by me? He won't stop staring. His eyes are so intense...

"Fire Dragon Iron Fist!" Natsu tried to attack him again, but this time he just flew away from the guy, his eyes left yours for a second and in that one second you felt so empty, so alone.

Crap, he's totally my soulmate isn't he?!

Even though you were in a fight for your life you couldn't find the strength to attack, to well, do anything really. His eyes were on you the whole time, they held you in place as he began moving toward you.

"(Y/N)! What are you doing?! You're the last one standing!"
"Are you serious right now Midnight?!"
"You...your guild hurt my friends!" You snapped out of whatever trance you were under and tried to attack him, but he quickly caught both your wrists, not just disarming you but also making it so your back was pressed against his chest.

"Now, now dear, you don't want to ruin this perfect moment" he whispered in your ear, in such a tone that made your knees weak.

"I...I won't let you do this...I won't let you hurt my nakama" you growl, Midnight chuckled.

"You don't seem to have a choice dear" Midnight mumbled, almost immediately knocking you out, "because you're coming with me." He held your body so it didn't hit the ground before tossing you over his shoulder.
"Father, may I bring her with us?"
"(Y/N)!"
