joshua, we're looking at you.

"now ease on your breaks," he instructed as i approached the stop sign, "look both ways, and proceed."

"you should get a side job at the dmv." i said jokingly as i began to make my way through the four-way.

"if times get hard, i might." he shrugged with a small smile making butterflies erupt throughout my entire body.

"ma'am?" i shook my thoughts as i met the instructors eyes.

"sorry," i mumbled feeling the embarrassment rise to my face.

she laughed a little before handing me the thing that i honestly never thought i would get. i thanked her before walking out of the dmv feeling relieved.

i made sure that i followed every law and came to a complete stop at the stop signs on my way home. my eyes couldn't help but wander at sometimes to the places we used to go to. i swallowed the lump growing in my throat as i turned my attention back to the road.

once i was finally home, i took a hot shower and climbed into bed. soft music played through my room as i scrolled through social media. my heart sunk as i came across a photo with a familiar face beside a blonde girl.

she's so much older than me, and has everything i'm insecure about.

i grabbed my keys and rushed out the door. i started the ignition and pulled out of the driveway with no set destination.

unfortunately, i made the mistake of turning up the radio just to hear his song playing. the one that he supposedly wrote about me, but i don't think he meant it.

i found myself turning down the road i knew best.

"you said forever." i said softly to myself as i felt tears rolling down my cheeks as the streetlights lit up the inside of my car as i got closer to his street.

AHHH this is not the best, but i wanted to do something with the inspiration from olivia rodrigo's new single.
