heartbreaker

waves crashed onto the sand as little kids left their feet prints behind. laughter filled my ears as i took in the warm sun's rays. it was the first time i had felt at peace, in a long time.

"watch out!" that feeling quickly disappeared when i was struck in the head by a volleyball. i groaned in pain as i sat up to see who the idiot was.

i saw a tall, muscular man jogging over to me. he had his hand placed over his stomach as he laughed loudly. i took a deep breath and got up from the lounge chair. i held the volleyball tightly in my hands as he approached me.

"whoops, didn't see you there." he said giving a smile that showed his perfectly aligned teeth. he had black minimalistic tattoos scattered around his tan skin that made his icy blue eyes pop.

"oh really?" i lowered my sunglasses to get a better look at him. he had to be around his late teens or early twenties. he was older than me, but not by much.

"yeah, me and my buddies just got too into the game y'know?" he asked reaching out for me to hand him the ball.

i brought it closer to me and gave him a sly smile. his friends watched from behind him, wondering what was taking so long.

"y'know," i said quoting him, "usually when you get someone, you apologize." i said tilting my head back to look up at him.

"my apologies." he was starting to get annoyed, which made me want to mess with the stranger even more.

"mhmm," i said squinting my eyes slightly, "here." i threw the ball directly up to his face making it collide and knock his sunglasses sideways.

he rubbed his cheek as he ball rolled on the sand. i laughed softly, "whoops, didn't see you there."

i grabbed my phone and water before brushing past him to walk back to the house.

i heard the laughs and snickers from the rest of the guys and smiled to myself.

i know i have been kind of MIA for the past few months, but now that summer is here i will be back to writing more, hence the new book. i've put a lot
of effort and work into it, so it would mean a lot
