Jayden's POV

It was already 9:26 in the evening and I was now sitting on the bed of mine and Maddison's room. Today was really a tiring day. And now, my mind was literally going all around think of different things.

Mainly about Lucas but also about the fight that's about to come. And of the lives that will be lost when it comes.

The doors suddenly opened and my mate soon walked it before looking at me with a smile which I also gave one back to her.

"You seem a bit tensed." She said as she sat down beside me.

I on the other hand, lied down on our bed with a long sigh. "You don't know the half of it." I said before I remembered something and I then looked towards her.

"What??" She asked when she noticed me looking.

"How about we have that talk now??" I said.

"Talk?? What talk??" She said. Trying to hide her nervousness so I slowly sat back up.

"You know what I'm talking about, Madds." I then gently reached for her hand. "I saw the way you reacted when when we were talking with others during lunch today. Specifically when the talk was about Taylor."

She tensed a bit at the mention of the name. "I'm sorry. I know it's none of my business whatever happened in your pasts."

"You're my mate. Of course you have that right." I said.

"No I don't." She then looked away slowly. " I hurt you remember?? I made you believe that you didn't mean anything for me. That itself gave you the right to give your heart to someone else and... "

"Look Madds... A mistake is a mistake but we're together now. And nothing will get between us ever again. Not Jason. Not Marcus. Not even the Fates will separate me from you." She started to tear up when I said this, but I could still feel that something was bothering her so I finally decided om something to ease her mind.

"Ask me anything."

She looked at me confused before she fully understood what I meant when I said this.

"Anything. I promise to answer you truthfully. Whatever it is.. ask me." I assured.

She still seemed unsure, but soon enough she gave in and asked her question.

"Did you love her??" I could hear a tinge of pain in her tone. But I knew that the answer would only increase that pain even more.

"Yes, I did. She was the mother of my pup and I really thought that she'd be my second chance at love." I honestly said and she gave me a pained smile and was about to stand when I quickly held her hand.

"But the love that I felt for her never compared to what I feel for you." I said. "And whatever I felt for her is long gone. Now, you're the only one that I'd even want to be with. The only one that I'd even want to give my heart to. And even if you don't believe me, I'll make sure to spend the rest of my life doing everything I can to let you know that I'm telling the truth."

She didn't say anything after that cause I was then pulled into a tight hug. My mate's scent surrounded me which itself made me feel content at where I was now.

3rd person's POV

Back in the large cabin in Marcus's encampment, Leo and his mate Miya silently stood while the others impatiently waited.

"Where's Lord Marcus?? Did he say anything as to where he went??" The rogue alpha John asked the vampire lord's 1st in command.

"He said he had to meet with someone. Who it is, he didn't say but he'll get back soon."
