Chapter 19

Rose/Maddison's POV

I remember that night months ago really well. And why wouldn't I?? That was the night that Jayden said he loved me.

But that was also the night that I thought I wouldn't make it...

Flash back

"Jay you have to leave me." I said as he had my arm around his shoulder walking through the halls of the slowly crumbling castle.

"No!! I'm not going to leave you. Were getting through this." He said as he kept pushing on despite his very wounded leg.

I knew he was in pain. I knew he was hurting. He has to go before this castle collapses on top of us and I would never want that to happen to him.

"I-I'll only slow you down. You have to g-get out of the castle before it collapses." I pushed, trying to get him to leave.

Hearing this, he clenched his teeth."No!! I'm never leaving you again." He said before turning to look at me.

He then continued to try and push on, but I knew that it was only a matter of time before this castle would collapse.

Suddenly, Jayden let out a pained yell before he fell down on the floor and me along with him.

But then he didn't waste time on trying to gently pull me up again but the shaking made it difficult."J-Jayden just go!!" I tried telling him again.

He was tired and in pain. He can't get us both out of here in time and I would rather he survived than me. He had a pup. Lucas needs him so he MUST live.

But the next thing he said was what really surprised me.

"No!!" He suddenly screamed out. " I love you Maddison so I'm not going to leave you here!!!" With that, the shaking stopped.

He took that as his chance to pull me up and as he did I stayed quiet, still shocked at what he said.

I never would have thought that I'd hear him say that to me ever again. Every night, I would hope that I would at least dream about him telling me he loved me. To hug me. Kiss me.

To make me whole.

But I knew then that it would be impossible for it to ever happen.

Or so I thought.

"Y-You..." I didn't know what to ask him. But it seemed that he understood what I meant cause the next thing he answered my unasked question

"I do. I never stopped. So no I will never leave you. Not again." He stopped walking and looked at me before stroking my cheek.

And I felt my spine tingle at the very sensation. The warmth. The very heat of his hand on my cheek.

Oh how I've missed it. To feel safe in his arms.

It was then that I felt hope that we'd get out of this together. So I nodded my head before we again tried to look for the exit.

"Jayden!!" We heard someone suddenly call. It was then that the castle again shook but this time it was more violent as I saw bits and pieced of the huge structure crumbling.

And just as I looked up, I saw the ceiling about to collapse on us so I did the only thing I could do.

"Look out!!!" I shouted and With the last bit of my strength, I pushed Jayden forward, out of the way of the crumbling ceiling.
