Maddison's POV
Warmth.
A feeling of security.
But most importantly, completeness.
Just some of the things I feel as Jayden held in his arms.
My tears continued to fall as I was still in disbelief that he still accepted me even after knowing that I lied to him on about who I truly was.
"Maddison??" I was snapped out of my thoughts when he slowly pulled away from me and wiped the tears off of my face with his hands, keeping them on my cheeks after he did.
The both of us just stood there for a few seconds, with him just staring at me in silence.
"I just can't shake the feeling that you'll disappear in front of me any second." He whispered before touching his forehead to mine.
Eyes staring at mine.
Closer and closer he inched and my heartbeat picked up in anticipation. I know that we've kissed before but that was when he still thought I was Rose.
I could feel his breath fanning my face, until...
Knock knock
He stopped his movements as we both turned to the door. Fia let out a soft growl, knowing that someone had just ruined a moment between us and our mate but I quickly shushed her before the door opened to reveal Elise.
"I'm really sorry for interrupting but I just found out that the alphas are having a meeting with the council. Garreth has already went ahead alone since Timothy is still resting though Mason has taken his place for now. But he also wants you to attend the meeting as well." She explained.
Jayden had a confused look on his face. "The council usually sends one of their guards to tell me personally. And I'd be the one to tell Garreth and Timothy."
"That's why you should go, Jay. Alpha Nick of the Night Howlers pack called for this meeting. And I fear they want to discuss about... About what had happened." By the look on my mate's face, he knew exactly what Elise was talking about and a look of guilt replaced his expression.
"Was Garreth not told of this meeting??" I asked her.
"No. Apparently, they know that the alpha will always side with Jayden in the end along with the other rogue packs in his group. And I only came to know of this thanks to the Alpha of the Sherwood pack, Alpha Bradly."
"It's understandable." Elise and I turned to Jayden when we heard him. "What I did was unforgivable." He added as he clenched his fists.
I immediately went to hold his fisted hand, and made him look towards me. "No. Marcus played you, Jay. He played you into losing control."
"I let him play me. I'm also at fault Maddison. And now, innocent blood is on my hands." He said as he looked at his hands.
"You must not let guilt pull you back Jay. I'll go with you. Garreth will also be there along with my brother."
"Not only them, but the Werecat King will be there too along with Darryl, Julius and his son, Tobias. Also talking about Darryl, we have to talk to him about his beta and the girl Tracy." Jayden and I nodded.
"We'll talk about that with him later. For now, we have to go to that meeting." Jayden and I said our goodbyes to Elise as we went out of the room, heading back towards the main building.
Many eyes turned to us, Jayden especially, giving my mate a weary look before quickly walking away.
Even the guards looked at him differently for now they eyed him with great uncertainty.
