Jayden's POV
Last night during dinner, nothing really happened except for Nick's gloats about how he's going to "End Marcus" and of me discussing with the others about the new information Leo gave us.
"Tch. What a prick." I thought when I heard Nick gloating a few tables away. We were having an early breakfast to see them off before they leave.
In all honesty, we wouldn't even bother if it wasn't an order from.the council.
"They haven't even got the slightest idea of what they're walking into." Mason mumbled.
"Yeah. Nick is so going to regret this." Jacob added.
But then I felt a slight sting in my chest when I though about all those wolves who had no choice but to follow the orders of their alphas. Not even knowing that those orders would result in their families losing precious loved ones.
"Maybe I should have just told them." They all turned to me with knowing glances.
"Even if you did, I doubt that they would have believed you." Mikey voiced.
"He's right Jay. They would've just went on with their plan to attack. I know Alpha Nick. He's too proud of an alpha. And he wouldn't have even considered your warning." Timothy added.
"How about these wolves who are about to.." I didn't even finish as I heard the talks of the wolves who some of them were going to meet their deaths later tonight.
Feeling a hand squeezing mine slightly, I turned to my mate who gave me solemn look.
"They've made their choice to follow their alpha. And as horrible as this sounds, you need to realize that you can't save everyone Jay." She said to me carefully.
"I know. I know I can't." I say lowly. "But that doesn't mean I can't try."
"And that's one of the best things about you, Jay." Lina started. "You're always willing to help anyone who's in need no matter what. But I'm afraid, in this situation you can't do anything."
Sucking in what they had said, I realized that they were right. I can't do anything in this situation. The best thing I can do is just pray that most of.them survive.
Well, except for Nick if I'm lucky.
"A toast!!" We suddenly heard someone shout. "A toast to Alpha Nick and the other packs who will finally put an end to this war!!!"
A series of claps and whoops erupted. And soon enough, Nick got up to address them.
"Fellow pack wolves, I thank you all for your support. Just think, by this time tomorrow we would finally end this war which have plagued us for months!! Unlike someone here, who had multiple chances BUT couldn't." He chuckled in the end and I could feel some eyes turn to me which I ignored.
"Also, after tonight.. we would also prove that we did not actually need the help of the rogues. Which if you ask me, was one of the other things that plagued us other than Marcus." Some of the rogues growled out. I myself suppressed a snarl that wanted to erupt.
But then someone suddenly shouted...
"You have no honor!!! The rogues helped defend all of the packs when we were at the very brink of losing!!" When I turned to who had said that, I was shocked to see that it was Toby Anderson. One of my past bullied when I was still a member of Silver Moon.
Growls were then heard but then Nick quickly quieted them down as alpha Timothy looked to be mind linking Toby.
"Well, I guess the mutt has a point." Nick chuckled. "They did help us. We can at least thank them. Mr. Jayden Grey. Whatever you did to help us, I want to thank you and the rogues."
