so i got into clone wars about 3 months after it ended but that doesn't matter HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO THE FIRST EP OF THE SIEGE OF MANDALOREEE

i'm fixing the reunion 😌

Things are moving quickly, Ahsoka repeated in her head. I'll tell them we can catch up later.

She inhaled deeply as the ship lowered to the ground, and she was able to catch a slight glimpse of Anakin and Obi-Wan waiting for her.

She willed away the burning sensation in her eyes.

We can catch up later, she thought again- though it seemed that she was trying to convince herself more than anyone.

The floor rocked slightly beneath her, and she straightened her spine, shoulders arching back. This had to be professional.

Someone should tell that to the growing ache in her chest as the ramp slowly opened.

She could feel Bo-Katan's eyes glaring into her back as they stepped down the platform- the Mandalorian would be outraged if Ahsoka took a single moment longer than necessary to reunite with her old masters.

She was greeted by Artoo as he rolled up beside her, and she couldn't help the smile that broke out over her face as she patted him on his dome.

She straightened up.

It was time for the hard part.

Mandalore, she reminded herself. Mandalore needs us- not Anakin.

He'd gotten taller, and so had she- he had always towered over her, so it was nice to see that one thing hadn't changed.

She couldn't say the same about his hair. He'd clearly grown it out- nearly down to his shoulders.

He'd always joked about doing that whenever he would let her braid it.

"It'd be easier if  you just let it grow," she grumbled, trying to push a good chunk of hair back into the braid.

"You want me to grow my hair out just because you want to braid it?" he joked, glancing at his reflection.

"Yes!" Ahsoka replied, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

 "Maybe," he hummed.

"Really?!"

"Anything for you, Snips," he laughed, tilting his head back to make it easier for her to tie off her project.

Obi-Wan looked about the same. More tired maybe, and his hair was turning a bit gray at the edges- something Ahsoka and Anakin had always teased him about.

She knew she should still be angry at him for not defending her during her trial, but she was a naturally forgiving person and couldn't help the warmth that washed over her at the sight of him.

Force, she'd missed them both terribly.

Anakin smiled at her, real and genuine and enough to break her heart as she remembered what she would have to do the moment that he tried to speak with her for longer than necessary.

"Ahsoka, I'm so glad-"

"We'll have to-"

They both froze, Anakin looking slightly hurt, and Ahsoka slightly guilty.

Her eye markings pinched together as Anakin furrowed his eyebrows. Obi-Wan looked back and forth between them.

"You go first," she said, lifting the corner of her mouth in a half smile. She could swear that Bo-Katan had hissed at her.

"I'm so glad you called," he said, a bit shyer this time as he scratched the back of his head. "It's good to have you back."

"It's good to be back," she replied, trying to convey her feelings through her eyes. They didn't have the time to talk through everything that had happened the last time they'd seen each other.

"Ahsoka," Obi-Wan greeted with a polite tilt of his head.

"Obi-Wan," she answered, imitating the gesture. "It's good to see you both, but we'll have to catch up later. Things are moving quickly."

"Please, follow me," Obi-Wan said, waving the group forward. He shot a glance back at the former Master and Padawan pair, giving them a small nod and raise of his eyebrows.

You can meet us in a few minutes, the unspoken expression said.

Ahsoka responded with a tiny smile, Anakin just nodding his head and clearing his throat, clearly trying to keep his emotions under wraps.

"So, how, uh, how have you been?" he asked slowly, his smile warm enough to bring tears to his old Padawan's eyes.

She forced them to stay down, swallowing hard.

"Everything's been okay. Before you ask, yes, I've been safe."

He laughed quietly.

"Good."

Neither of them quite knew what to say next, arms crossing over their respective chests as they awkwardly looked around.

"I've missed you, Snips," Anakin finally whispered, nudging her in the shoulder. The tension snapped like a twig the moment he revived her old nickname.

Knowing that she wouldn't be able to answer with words without her voice cracking from the tears she was suppressing, Ahsoka stepped forward and looked up at him expectantly.

He looked down at her with overwhelming fondness.

"Can I help you?" he joked, smirking as he turned to face her. She buried her laugh in his chest, arms wrapping around his waist.

"Fine. I'll initiate the hug."

Anakin laughed softly too, his arms coming around her upper back.

"I missed you too," she whispered, and he squeezed her shoulders in acknowledgement. They both closed their eyes for a few seconds, rocking back and forth.

Anakin was the first to pull away.

"Come on. Your friend is waiting for us," he reminded her. Ahsoka nodded, clearing her throat.

Anakin showed no sign of acknowledgment to the tear that ran down her face other than the thumb he brushed across her cheek to wipe it away.

Clearly trying not to embarrass her, he said nothing about her tears, just continued to banter playfully with her as they walked through the hangar.

Ahsoka laughed at his stupid jokes, rolling her eyes.

This wasn't how she had planned for their reunion to go, but she decided that she wouldn't want it any other way.

yes i understand that they couldn't have had a happy reunion for the plot to go on. yes i'm still mad that we didn't get a hug.

i love ahsoka with all my heart but i have never wanted to slap someone so badly when she was all rude to anakin just don't- don't even get me started.

GUYS I MISS THEM
