"Where... you going?" Ahsoka mumbled as Anakin hoisted himself off of the ground, rolling her out of his arms and into her bed.

They'd both fallen asleep on the ground, Ahsoka in her master's lap while he leaned his head up against her mattress. Rays of early-morning sunshine broke through Ahsoka's window.

Anakin would be leaving soon.

"I've just got to go get ready for the mission," he whispered back. "I'll be back in a few minutes, alright? I promise I won't leave without saying goodbye."

"For real promise? Or 'promise' like the time you told me that the stuff on the table was a milkshake when it was actually your disgusting green smoothie?" she asked while Anakin wrapped her tightly in her blankets.

"Promise promise. I wouldn't joke around about something that I know you're this worked up over."

She closed her eyes, thinking about that for a moment before replying,

"I believe you."

"Good," he bent down to kiss her cheek. "I'll be right back."

Ahsoka let herself fall back asleep as her master's footsteps disappeared out her bedroom door, only waking up a few minutes later when she felt the bed dip beside her.

There was a strong, yet gentle, arm around her waist and in moments, she was surrounded by the warmth of a hug so tight and familiar that it could only belong to her master.

"You have to be safe," she breathed softly into her pillow as he rested his chin against her shoulder. "You have to come back... Khos."

"Did you just call me-"

"You said it first when you called me tunguma," she giggled. "I always called you my brother, but then you called me your daughter so..."

Anakin chuckled softly, letting his grip on his padawan loosen so that he could roll her over to face him.

"It doesn't matter," he said, indulging in her smile. "It doesn't matter, as long as we're family. And that's what we are, right?"

She nodded against his chest.

"Right."

He held her for a few more minutes while she slept, before finally dipping his head to whisper,

"I've got to go."

"Okay."

"Don't worry."

"I will."

He sighed.

"I will come back to you, tunguma, sa'mahr. I promise. Real promise."

"D'bhem yeh."

Anakin climbed out of the bed.

"D'bhem yeh."
