Soooo apparently y'all like modern hahaha ("a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.")
Part 3 with a plot twist, as requested from a_yuri2_Rancher and AhsokaGrangerSnips
(IM STEALING MY BROTHER'S COMPUTER TO PROPERLY TAG PPL SOON I PROMISE)
It was past four thirty.
Anakin was panicking.
"What's the matter with you?" Rex asked, laying a hand on his shoulder.
"My dumbass sister," Anakin replied, forcefully shoving his phone back into his pocket. "I told her to be home by four. She should've passed by here by now." He looked up from his seat on the large rock, as if he were expecting Ahsoka and Nyx to come walking down the street right then.
He shot her another text.
Where are you?!
Rex sighed.
"I know what it's like being in her position," he said. "My brothers used to fuss over me too when I was her age. I think you just need to give her some space."
"That's all that I've been doing!" Anakin insisted. "She's my baby sister! I have a right to worry about her when she goes off on dates with stupid... tall... leather jacket-wearing boys!"
Rex could only laugh.
"I'm sure it's different with sisters and brothers, but I promise that she'll come around if you just back off a little."
"How do I do that?"
"Give me your phone."
"What?!"
"Give me your phone!" Rex urged, holding out his hand. "Out of sight, out of mind."
"But... ugh, fine," Anakin spat, reluctantly handing the device to his friend.
"So... who else is meeting us?"
"I sent a group text. Ben will probably say he has homework or something, but I'm sure that the twins, Jesse, and Hardcase will show up. Not sure about the others."
"And... Padme?"
"Yeah, I'm not so sure she's coming."
"Aw crap, what'd you do this- oh... oh." Rex paused as Anakin's phone began buzzing. His face paled. He tried to hand the phone back to his friend, but Anakin just shoved his hand away.
"Nope! Like you said- out of sight, out of mind!"
"Anakin, I really think you should see-"
"I've got to stick to-"
"Anakin, this is importan-"
"Your rules, Captain Rex," he joked, his smile quickly falling flat as sirens began to drown out his voice.
Rex practically chucked the phone at Anakin. He gasped as he read what was written on the screen.
"Wha... we need to get to my house- now!" he yelled, jumping off of the rock and scrambling to hop over the gate of the park. Rex followed closely behind, sprinting to catch up.
When Ahsoka arrived, it was too late. She immediately sought out her brother, taking note of his horrified, blank stare when she found him.
He was numbly digging through the wreckage of their house, body seeming to move on its own accord.
He was up in a flash as soon as he caught sight of her. She ran at him, collapsing into his arms, allowing him to hold her like he had when they were younger.
"How... what... where's Mom?" she asked, already knowing the answer. If she had survived the fire, she would certainly have been right at Anakin's side when Ahsoka had arrived.
"She's gone, Ahsoka... she's gone," he spoke.
"B-but," she could hardly get one word out before she was crying into his shirt.
"I've got you, it's going to be okay," he whispered, unfocused. He continued to spew out the most generic comforting sentences he could think of, his brain only thinking ahead.
As if she were reading his mind, Ahsoka spoke,
"What are we going to do now?" she sniffled.
"Well," he cleared his throat. No crying. Stay strong for her, he yelled at himself, "Mr. Koon offered to let us stay at his place for as long as we need to. I could share a room with Wolffe, and you would take the guest room. I can become your legal guardian once I turn eighteen in a few months," he continued. As he blinked, he felt two tears travel down his cheeks.
"But in the end, we'll just have to take it one day at a time," he choked, swallowing hard.
"Where did they take Mom?" Ahsoka whispered, tilting her chin upwards to lock eyes with her brother. He pressed his thumbs to her damp cheeks, wiping the tears away.
"They brought an ambulance for her," he gulped, threading his fingers through the silvery hair that had stuck to her face, tucking it behind her ears. "But it was too late. We'll see her at the wake."
Ahsoka's face crinkled up again, and she fell against him, pressing her cheek to his chest. Anakin let out a shaky sigh as Ahsoka shivered, her breaths uneven.
"Come on. Let's get you to Mr. Koon's house. You shouldn't have to see all this," he continued, glancing at all the neighbors who had gathered around the rubble to help clean up.
He would thank them all later. For now, his sister was more important. She was all that he had left, and his main priority.
And, he realized as he guided her across the soot-covered yard, he was all that she had left as well.
Okay, idk if this is normal, but have y'all ever like... reverse shifted? Like you bring a character into your dream, but you don't go to their universe? Like you shift them to you. Idk if I'm explaining this correctly, but I've never been able to shift before, but it's happened three times where I've brought other characters into my dreams.
The first was Harry Potter- I brought Harry to our world and we talked about magic and it was great
The second was kanan for some reason and I just saw him from a distance but it was him and like live-action him so idk how that happened
and the third was last night and IT WAS REX AND I GAVE HIM A HUG AND WE WERE BEST FRIENDS AND IVE ALMOST BEEN IN TEARS THINKING ABOUT IT ALL DAY CUZ HE WAS THE SWEETEST PERSON EVER AND HUGGING HIM WAS THE GREATEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE
But yeah. Maybe i just have dreams like this because I spend way too much of my time thinking about fictional characters.
Idk. Have a good day, and leave requests if you want toooo :)
