"I can wait out here for the fire to die down," Anakin said to Obi-Wan.
"Are you sure that you won't fall asleep and freeze out here?" Obi-Wan asked.
"I'll be fine, Master. Just go to bed," came Anakin's reply with an eyeroll.
"Alright," Obi-Wan agreed. "See you in the morning." He manually pulled open the door of their broken ship, which was halfway underground from their impromptu crash landing.
Anakin poked at the fire with a stick, watching the sparks fly with great interest. He sighed to himself as he thought of where he could be right now- where he should be.
Padme and him had carefully planned out how they could spend Life Day with one another for the past month. It seemed, however, that the Force had different plans.
A mission had been given to him just two days before the holiday. Then, to make matters worse, they had crashed onto an unknown planet, and would be stranded there until the Republic could send another ship to pick them up.
At least your not alone, he thought sourly to himself. You may not be with your wife, but you've got all of your friends.
As if on cue, a small voice whispered his name from behind him.
"Master?" Ahsoka spoke, tiptoeing on bare feet across the soil.
"What's up, Snips?" he asked quietly, patting the open spot next to him on the log he was seated on.
"Can't sleep," she admitted, planting herself on the wood beside him.
"How come?" he asked, wrapping his arm around her and squeezing her shoulder. She looked up at him.
"It's Life Day... I just want to go home," she replied, her voice shaking slightly. She cleared her throat, swallowing hard.
"Me too, Snips, me too," he said, leaning his head up against one of her montrals. "Ooh! I've got something that might help." He leaned down, reaching into his backpack. He pulled out a tiny radio. "They'll be playing Life Day music."
"I hope we can get a signal out here," Ahsoka said, pulling her legs up onto the log and crossing them. Anakin nodded in agreement, adjusting the antenna.
"Don't... snowman... le... this way," the radio stuttered, the staticky sound returning every few seconds.
"A puddle of water can't hold me close, baby," Anakin sang along quietly with the radio. Ahsoka smiled. They were both familiar with the song, having insisted on blasting holiday music on the radio every time they got on a ship. It was mostly for fun, but partially to bother Obi-Wan.
"Can't hold me close, baby," they continued in unison.
"I want you to know that I'm never leaving. 'Cause I'm Mrs. Snow, 'til death we'll be freezing," Ahsoka sang as Anakin pressed a few buttons to try and get a better signal.
He set it down with an annoyed sigh as the sound stopped, losing signal completely. After a few moments of silence, Ahsoka leaned her head on his shoulder.
"Yeah, you are my home, my home for all seasons," she continued, wrapping an arm around him.
"So come on, let's go," Anakin echoed, squeezing her shoulder once again.
"Let's go below zero and hide from the sun. I love you forever where we'll have some fun." Anakin smiled as he felt the tight, dark sadness from Ahsoka's mind turn into warmth. He grinned down at her.
"Yes, let's hit the North Pole and live happily. Please don't cry no tears now, it's Life Day, baby." Ahsoka looked up, matching his expression with a smile of her own.
"My snowman and me, my snowman and me. Baby. Don't cry snowman, don't you fear the sun. Who'll carry me without legs to run, honey. Without legs to run, honey." Ahsoka began rocking the two of them from side to side with the rhythm of the song.
"Don't cry snowman, don't you shed a tear." Somehow, the two of them turned the swaying into a wordless competition, each of them trying to push one another a bit harder to the side with each lean.
"Who'll... hear my... secrets if you... don't... have ears, baby," they continued, giggling every few seconds as they almost tipped themselves over. The laughter died down as they heard a voice join in with them on the next line.
"If you don't have ears, baby." Both of them turned their heads slightly, noticing a small group of clones- Rex, Jesse, Fives, and Echo -exiting the ship and singing along with them quietly.
"I want you to know that I'm never leaving. 'Cause I'm Mrs. Snow, 'til death we'll be freezing," the small chorus sang together. A few more voices joined the mix as more clones climbed out of the ship.
"Yeah, you are my home, my home for all seasons." Anakin and Ahsoka smiled again at one another as Obi-Wan's quiet voice joined the mix.
"So come on, let's go. Let's go below zero and hide from the sun. I love you forever where we'll have some fun. Yes, let's hit the North Pole and live happily. Please don't cry no tears now, it's Life Day, baby," everyone continued.
Even as hundreds of voices were echoing around them, Ahsoka remained focused on Anakin's. She nestled herself closer to his side, drowning out the rest of the noise around them. It was just her and her big brother.
"My snowman and me." Anakin leaned his head up against hers.
"My snowman and me. Baby." Ahoka wrapped her other arm around him, pulling him into a hug. He did the same to her.
"Happy Life Day, Snips," he whispered.
"Happy Life Day, Skyguy."
