Both Deena and Sam's dad stayed the night with Sam. Sam was the only one that slept.

They were both up all night. They went over the surgery again with the doctor. The doctors tried to reassure both of them, but the anxiety and the what if's kept them awake all night.

Two nurses arrived to take Sam to the operating room for the surgery. They told Deena and Sam's dad where to go, back to the surgery waiting room. The surgery could last anywhere between 8-10 hours.

"I love you, Samantha. We will be right here after." Sam's dad leaned in and kissed the top of Sam's head, a gesture Sam wasn't used to yet. "I love you too, Dad." It was the first time she told that to her dad in years, and it made him smile as soon as she did.

Deena was on the other side of Sam's bed. Sam turned to face her, each other's hands instantly went to hold the other's face.

"I will be right there, the whole time. I love you so much, Sam. I'm going to marry you. Are you sure you want to do this?" Deena spoke softly to Sam, looking directly into her eyes.

"I love you so much too, Deena. And yes I'm sure. I'm sure, because I want our house together to be blue." Sam said back, a small smile on her lips.

"Blue?" Deena said, instantly smiling at Sam bringing up a house together.

"Yes,  I'll see you on the other side." Sam leaned in and kissed Deena with all the energy within her.

Neither of them cared about the people watching around them. Every time they were together, world was completely just theirs.

Deena placed a kiss on Sam's forehead on the other side of her head quickly as they took their hands off of each other.

Sam's dad and Deena followed Sam and the nurses as far as they could. Then they made their way to the surgery waiting room where they waited for Sam while she got her appendix removed.

This time they were filled with so much more anxiety. This surgery was going to make Sam better or take her away from them.

Deena sat on the chair closest to where the doctor came out last time. And Sam's dad sat across from her. She brought her hands together and prayed for Sam, then she prayed again and again.
