"You know my parents always told me that, I was so mean and cold as a kid and refused to play with other kids until I met you. They said you make me nicer and happier when you were around." Deena spoke as she placed her hand on the side of Sam's face and caressed her cheek with her thumb.

Sam laughed as she turned her body on her side as she faced Deena. They were on their roof together as they watched the sunset, the Pixies playing in the background.

"You were scary at first, I remember. But then I think I fell or something at school and dropped all my stuff, and you ran to me and helped me up and picked my stuff up for me." Sam placed her hand on Deena's stomach and lifted her shirt up a little.

Letting her fingers graze over Deena's skin which caused Deena's breath to hitch in her throat.

"Yeah and then you hugged me and kissed my cheek to thank me and I've been hooked on you ever since," Deena smiled as she thought about the memory of the moment.

"Woah are you saying you had a crush on me? How embarrassing, babe." Sam teased and Deena rolled her eyes at her.

"Oh my God, you're such a dork." Deena laughed lightly before leaning into Sam and kissing her.

Deena often thought about how different she was the moment she became friends with Sam.

They were a lot younger, but she couldn't forget how meeting one person could change her life.

She was scared to think about how her life would've been if she never met Sam or if she scared Sam away.

"Do you want to go to the party tonight?" Sam asked when they broke apart from the kiss.

Sam used to go to all the parties that any of her friends on cheerleading squad would throw. But since she got cancer she hasn't went to any.

Sam dragged Deena to a couple ones over the years. This was usually when Sam was dating some guy and wanted Deena there so she didn't have to go off and make out with them like they tried to.

Sam hasn't wanted to go to one for months now, but her friends she used to be on the cheerleading team with said how much they missed her and begged her to come.

It would be different this time, Sam and Deena were together and the whole school knew about it. They were talked about, especially after Sam got shot.

Deena took a moment as she thought about it.

"It would just be way different. We wouldn't have to stay long. They kept asking me at school about it. It would be different because I would be there with you. They know about us so we wouldn't have to hide or anything." Sam tried to give her best puppy dog eyes to plead to Deena.

"Okay, fine, let's do it. Not for long though, right?" Deena gave in like she always did with Sam.

"Right, I love you. Thank you," Sam leaned in to kiss her with a smile on her face.

"I love you too, you know you always get your way when you use that face on me," Deena rose from her spot on the roof and carefully helped Sam up.

Sam laughed and placed another kiss on Deena's lips.

Sam dressed like she used to before the cancer. She hasn't been wearing much of her clothes since she started dating Deena.

But she wanted to feel like her old self for the night and she always wanted to make Deena blush when she saw her.

Sam looked in the mirror of the bathroom and fixed her pink lipstick to be as perfect so possible.

She heard Deena yell for her so she looked herself over once more time and she felt like her old self again when she looked in the mirror.

She couldn't be without a part of Deena's clothes so she wore a pair of Deena's black and white vans to match.

Deena's face grew pink when Sam walked up to her. She did look like how Sam used to when she went to parties before the cancer.

Although she couldn't deny how beautiful and attractive Sam looked, she was a little sad because she changed so much after getting cancer.

It worried Deena that Sam would go back to how she used to be and be afraid to be with Deena again. And that she would turn back into being fake when she was with her friends from the cheerleading team.

Sam was wearing one of her short pink dresses that made her breasts look bigger and that's exactly why Sam liked it.

Deena's jaw dropped a little when she saw Sam. And she couldn't fight the urge to kiss her was as much force as she could the moment Sam was close enough to her.

Sam's cheeks grew hot at the reaction Deena had to her when she walked out of the bathroom. Her hands went to the back of Deena's neck, while Deena's went straight to Sam's hips, and pulled her closer.

"Deena, we are already so late, Simon and Kate are waiting for us." Sam spoke on Deena's lips in between kisses.

"It's going to be unbearable to not touch you the whole time." Deena sighed as she pulled back from the kiss.

"It's not for long. Then we can come home and you can touch me whenever and however you like," Sam teased as she smirked at Deena.

"I'll be counting down the seconds until then," Deena took Sam's hand and led them to the car.

Deena was nervous about the night. She knew how Sam would drink before the cancer and she knew that she had to limit and watch Sam's drinking tonight so it wouldn't make her sick.
