Deena still felt nauseous as she watched Sam in Peter's car and watched them drive away. She was so worried about Sam that she was terrified. Sam barely knew the guy but she got in his car and he drove off with her.

The only things Deena knew about Peter was that he played football, and that he was constantly hitting on  girls every time Deena saw him.

Once Sam became a freshman and made the cheer squad, she started getting invited to parties and would go to them, almost all of them she was invited to.

Sam tried to convince Deena to go with her, but Deena would only know Sam, Kate and Simon there while it would be crowded with other people that annoyed her as they played shitty music Deena hated.

Sam would come over to Deena's almost every night, but since she got invited to parties, she canceled with Deena more so she could go party.

Deena tried to play it off at first although it hurt her the more Sam distanced herself from Deena as she got more friends and got more attention from boys.

It was so different than before. They were together every moment before they got into high school.

Sam spent countless hours with Deena's family and they treated her like their own every day. Sam was the only one that knew Deena. That saw a side of her that no one else saw.

Kate, Simon, and Sam finally dragged Deena to a party with them and Deena saw first hand how Sam was at parties and it terrified her.

She watched guys look her up and down. Then they would offer her more shots or cups of beer and Sam downed every single drink.

Because Deena finally went to a party with them, it was the one night Sam wasn't with Sophie and Taylor as they all drank and flirted with the guys at the party.

This time, Sam stayed around Deena. She didn't go off and dance with a boy that kept looking at her and offering her a drink.

She sat next to Deena on a couch and was so close to Deena that she if she moved an inch closer, Sam could be on Deena's lap.

"You're so beautiful, D. Beyond beautiful. You are like an angel, you glow like one. I've seen it." Sam spoke, her head laying on Deena's shoulder.

Deena smiled and leaned her head down against Sam's. She didn't care about the people around her that could see them if they even paid attention.

She was lost in the moment with Sam and didn't want to get thrown back to reality.

That night Sam walked to Deena's house with her as they held hands the whole time.

"Do you want to go to that party, D?" Kate asked and pulled on Deena's arm to get her attention.

"No. I can't handle watching him grope and kiss her all night. I've puked everything up, I don't have anything left to throw up if I went there." She was worried about Sam with Peter, but she said Sophie was there and she knew that Sophie would look out for Sam if she needed it.

Deena didn't have the strength to be around Sam anymore that night. The image of Peter kissing Sam ran through her mind on a constant loop. Her heart broke every time but it wouldn't stop replaying in her head.

Simon hugged Deena as they watched Kates sister drive up to the restaurant to pick them up to drive them to their houses.

Deena went straight to her room and laid on her bed. She closed her eyes and finally let herself cry. Her cries were muffled by the pillow she held so Josh didn't hear her.

After a few minutes Deena calmed down and was so emotionally exhausted from the night, she fell asleep.

Not even an hour later, Josh pulled the cover off Deena and woke her up.
