Sam and Deena were at Sam's dads house. He asked them both for dinner, and they sat on the couch, waiting for Sam's dad to get home.
Sam sighed as she looked her small sliver watch on her wrist. He was over an hour and a half late.
Deena's head rested on Sam's shoulder. She felt awful for Sam and so disappointed in Sam's dad.
Sam finally had a parent treating her right and he started acting like how he was before. Constantly saying work had an emergency.
The phone rang, and Deena sat up so Sam could answer it.
She listened as Sam spoke, "it's okay. I understand. Yeah we can do it another night. Bye."
"I'm so sorry, Sam. Maybe he really had work stuff going on."
"Maybe. But how do accountants have emergencies? A calculator exploded?"
Deena accidentally let out a laugh then put her hand over her mouth to try to hide it.
Sam laughed and reached her hand out for Deena's. She led them upstairs to her room.
"I have something to show you."
Sam went to the box her and Deena made when they were younger. She took a note out of it that Sam made for Deena at school and handed it to Deena.
"I was reading this the other day, I busted out laughing." Sam spoke as Deena opened the note.
The note was about how a guy in their grade was trying to kiss Sam and Sam wrote in the note that it would be gross to kiss him and she'd throw up.
"Wow, that sounds so gay," Deena joked and laughed with Sam. Deena put the note back in the box.
Sam stood facing Deena, bring her hand to Deena's face and tucked some of her dark curls behind her ear.
Sam then trailed her finger across Deena's face and stopped at her lips.
