The last time Deena saw Sam's dad, she was yelling at him at the hospital. It was right before Sam was admitted for pneumonia and she was angry with him for allowing Sam's mom near Sam.
He broke the promise to Deena to protect Sam and she was just as hurt and angry as Sam was when Deena broke her promise.
She ignored the school's front office secretaries and walked out the front doors of the school.
Deena replayed the intense, but tender moment she had with Sam in the empty classroom as she drove to his house.
She was just as starved for Sam after the time they had apart. They were together everyday for months, always having their hands or lips on the other. They spent countless hours in Deena's bed, tangled up in each other's bodies and loving each moment.
And now Deena could only think back on how soft Sam was to touch and how Sam would only be rough with her and not show it to the rest of the world.
She thought about Sam's face as she begged Sam to come back to her. To not get with Peter again.
Once they broke out of the heat of the moment of passion and love with each other, Sam pulled away. She watched as Sam started to over think again and become scared of her mom and Peter.
It hurt her to see how broken and somber Sam was.
No matter what was happening between Sam and Peter, Deena felt the love Sam had for her still in the moment between them. She knew Sam wouldn't stop loving her because her mom tried to force her to, what they had between them was much stronger and beyond what Sam's mom could come between.
Sam rejected Deena when she begged Sam to come back. But Sam kissed Deena the same as they were together. She held onto to her and melted into Deena's hands and body the same as before. Nothing changed between them, but what Sam's mom was putting Sam through.
Even though Sam told Deena to stay away, it made Deena want to fight harder against Sam's mom and figure out what was going on.
Deena rang the doorbell four times at Sam's dad's house, then gave up and sat on the porch step to wait for him to come home.
Sam went straight to the bathroom after she left Deena in the classroom. She was too weak and yearned for Deena since the last time they were together to fight the fervent feelings between them the moment they were alone together.
She sat in the stall and skipped the last class she had. It was with Deena and she couldn't see her after what they just did together.
Sam went to her locker after she calmed down and fought back tears as she thought about Deena begging her to come back to her.
She found herself constantly reminding herself that all this was for Deena. The pain of being away from each other and the cold, sleepless nights in her bed as she dreamed of memories they had.
"What happened to you? Did Deena try something?" Olivia asked when she met up with Sam.
"No," Sam lied, "she didn't. I haven't seen her. I haven't seen the girl I love. W-Who was my future. Because you and Taylor and my mom are fucking psychopaths. You love torturing me don't you? Do you think you're a good person? You get off on it and it's pathetic." Sam slammed her locker shut.
"I'm walking home. I don't need to hear your voice anymore today or I'll cut my ears off. I don't fucking care." Sam turned to go out the doors without hearing Olivia's reply.
Deena stood as Sam's dad parked in the driveway and started up to the front porch.
"Deena, is everything alright?" He asked, concern etched across his face at the sudden visit from Deena.
"No. Not at all. Sam isn't stay with me anymore. She hasn't in a week. She's been with her mom," Deena said and followed him into the house.
"Are you serious? Neither of them told me. Sam called me from school to check in with me. But she sounded sad, and was being vague with how she was. But she just said she was tired and I believed her." He set his briefcase down on the counter and sat at the kitchen counter.
"Her mom did something to her. Sam was fine one day then her mom came to school said her grandma was in the hospital and wanted to see Sam. Sam went. Then she wouldn't call so I went to her window and she broke up with me. And said me being near her puts Josh and I at risk." Deena paused to let him take in the information.
"Now she sits with Olivia Huggins and Peter Crawford, her ex boyfriend, at school because her mom forces her to so that she stays away from me. Peter and I were about to fight when he said something about me going near Sam will risk my dad's job. I don't get how it would. But that's what Sam's been warning me about. Her mom threatened her with getting him fired somehow and she's letting her mom control her again to not put Josh and me at risk."
"I hate to say it but it sounds like Joan to go that low....Your dad's job? Neil Goode owns all the construction companies in union county and some outside of it. Sam had a friend that is his daughter, so you think she would help? Her name is Taylor, I think?"
