"You guys are going to be the hottest couple at prom. You look so beautiful, Sam! This is definitely the dress and Deena will love it," Kate put her hands on both of Sam's shoulders.

Sam smiled and blushed slightly at the thought of  Deena being dressed up and everyone staring at them at prom.

She kept asking Deena since the day they agreed to go to prom, if she was still okay with going. And Deena reassured her every time.

Sam had to miss school that day before she went shopping with Kate. She had a doctors appointment and they had multiple tests Sam needed done.

Her dad went with her and told her he closed a deal on a house. He wanted her to have a room there and he wanted to move her stuff from her mom's to his house if she wanted. Which Sam agreed to right away. She was happy that her dad was leaving the house and away from her mom, but she was sad to not stay at Deena's anymore.

"I know how you and Deena are..." her dad cleared his throat and continued, "I mean I know how much you love each other. I know you want to be with her, and that's okay, I get that. I'm glad you have Deena. I just want to spend time with you also. I have a lot of years to make up for Sam, and I'm so sorry everyday for how I was before. So I ask you to spend some days at my house, please."

"Yes, dad. Of course I'll have my room at your house and spend time with you. I do have Deena and want to be with her all the time, but I also want that too, to spend time with you too." When Sam finished speaking, her dad hugged her.

She could see it in his face every time she saw him how ashamed he was of the person and dad he used to be before Sam got cancer.

And it hurt her to see this in him, so she was going to spend time with him again and give him another chance. She still needed his love, even after all these years.

Sam and her dad waited over an hour in the doctors room, waiting to hear the results of Sam's tests and if the cancer has come back.

Sam was so nervous she was nauseous the whole time.

But the doctor said no new cancer cells at the moment. He also said Sam was doing well and gaining weight which is a sign that the chemotherapy medicine was almost out of her bloodstream so she would continue to her stronger.

Deena didn't see Sam all day because of her doctors appointment. She knew that this one was important because they were testing her blood for new cancer cells.

She was anxious all day at school about it, and missed holding her hands in the hallways.

Deena paced around in her living room while she wanted for Sam to get home.

Deena nearly knocked Sam over with a hug after Sam knocked on the front door.

"Well hello to you, too." Sam laughed as she wrapped her arms around Deena's waist for balance and kissed her.

"What happened? What did the doctor say?" Deena led Sam inside and shut the front door behind them.

"He said I was getting stronger so that's a sign the chemo is getting out of my bloodstream. And that there's no new cancer" Sam was cut off there as Deena kissed her with so much force she nearly knocked down Sam again.

"That makes me so fucking happy. I've been worried all day. I love you. I'm so happy you're doing better," Deena said between kisses as she kissed Sam again.

"Alright Sam you owe me a cinnamon roll. All I was trying to do was get pop and you guys are making out again. Gross," Josh groaned as he went to the kitchen.

Deena and Sam still had their arms wrapped around the other as they laughed at what Josh said.

"I love you too, Deena. I'm sorry you were worried, I'm doing okay and I'm going to be okay. I'm happy for the first time in my life, I'm happy and it's all because of you," Sam spoke honestly, pulling Deena into a kiss again.
