Sam and Deena had to give their depositions at the Union county courthouse about Caleb and the shooting.
Both of them didn't say it, but they felt grateful that Caleb wouldn't be able to get out of these charges and go to prison.
As they got into Deena's car from the courthouse, they felt a weight off their shoulders. And Sam started to feel safe again knowing Caleb was arrested.
Sam snuck in to her moms house everyday since Deena got her acceptance letter, but she couldn't find any letter for her from NYU. She even became desperate enough to actually talk to her mom and ask.
The acceptance date was quickly approaching for NYU. And Deena wouldn't accept that she was going there until Sam got the letter.
Sam tried not to think about it, but she was so nervous that she didn't get in and it would ruin their plans and disappoint Deena.
Sam's dad promised Sam to take her to her therapy appointment the day before since he all the other ones, but again, he called Deena's house last minute and asked Deena to take her.
Deena was more angry and disappointed in him than Sam was. Sam wasn't surprised, she had hope in him, but the first time he backed out due to work, she knew he would keep doing this.
The appointment went well, Sam started to try in therapy the more times she went. She started feeling a little better each time.
A big part of the therapy was recognizing negative thoughts about herself and helping her to stop critiquing herself so harshly.
The therapist wanted to have Deena join a session, but Sam said that she wasn't ready for that.
The last time Sam spoke to her dad, she asked him to get something for her, well she guilted him into it because he did owe her.
After they went to the courthouse, they went to school. Deena wanted to skip the rest of the day, but Sam insisted to go.
They made it to school just after lunch, they didn't have anymore classes together until the last class of the day.
Sam watched Deena go off in the other direction, then went back to her locker to put the neckless on that her dad got her, the one she asked for.
She loved that Deena wore her ring all the time. When they were just laying in bed or sitting next to each other, Sam would take her hand and would fidget and play with the ring on Deena's hand.
The more Deena wore it, the more Sam wanted something that she wore everyday too that showed the world that she was Deena's.
So that's why she asked her dad to get the necklace. She could tell he sounded a bit annoyed at Sam when she described what she wanted, but she didn't care.
The necklace was small and gold. And there was a 'D' on the middle of it. She didn't tell Deena about this, she wanted to surprise her.
So she put it on at her locker. In all her classes, she would fidget with the neckless and think of Deena.
She made it to the last class of the day early. She was excited like a little kid with a new toy.
The moment Deena walked in, Sam had a huge smile on her face. Deena looked right at Sam when she walked in and laughed right away because she wasn't expecting it.
They sat together in the back. They did that for all their classes together. Sam would work her charm and kindness to switch people so they could sit there in all their classes.
Sam took her fingers off the necklace when she saw Deena so she wouldn't notice it right away.
"Are you just so happy to see me or are you planning something? What did you do Sam?" Deena asked, sitting down next to her.
She couldn't help but smile back at Sam every time Sam smiled. Even when Sam wasn't looking at her, the moment Sam smiled, so did Deena.
Sam giggled as Deena sat next to her, and leaned over her desk to get closer to Deena.
She had to hold herself back from blurting it out the moment Deena was near.
"I didn't do anything, I'm an innocent child. You know that. And of course I'm so happy to see you." Sam reached over and put her hand on Deena's arm.
Sitting in the back of the class had its advantages for them, so no one stared if they sat too close or were touching in any way.
Deena resisted the urge to kiss Sam the moment she got to her desk. But the room was full and the teacher was about to talk and she didn't want to deal with getting yelled at.
"Oh yes, you are very innocent. You were so innocent in your hospital bathroom and your bedroom two days ago." Deena blushed as she brought up those memories.
Sam's jaw hung open and her cheeks turned pink, stunned for the moment that Deena brought that up in public.
"Hey!" Sam playfully bumped Deena's shoulder. "If I remember correctly you liked those moments very much." Sam smirked.
"At least I wasn't the one that pulled me away the second a guy touched my shoulder." Sam teased.
"You're right. I loved those moments. I did pull you away the second he touched you. And I don't regret it for one second. Only I'm allowed to touch your shoulders," Deena teased right back to her.
Which caused both of them to start laughing but stopped when the teacher yelled at them.
They looked back at each other with wide smiles on their faces, trying their best to not laugh again.
It was the end of the school day and Deena was meeting Sam at her locker before they left.
They were usually the last ones in the hall of lockers around them before they left. Sam would start her homework at her locker while waiting for Deena and then wouldn't leave until most of it was finished.
This happened about every day and if it was anyone else, Deena would be annoyed and mad but it was Sam and Deena found it adorable every time she did it.
Sam leaned against her locker, facing the direction that Deena was coming from. She didn't start her homework today, she was still excited to show Deena the necklace.
"Hey, you ready?" Deena smiled as she reached out for Sam's hand.
"Yeah but I think I have this rash on my neck, right here, what do you think?" Sam tried her best but failed at holding back a smile as she spoke.
Deena was worried for a moment when Sam spoke about the rash, then she leaned in and looked closer at Sam's neck. It took her a moment but she realized what Sam wanted her to see.
"Sam," Deena spoke, in awe of Sam for the millionth time. "A 'D' for for me?" Deena thought it was obvious but she loved the necklace so much and the fact Sam got it that she wanted to make sure.
Sam smiled as she wrapped her arms around Deena's shoulders. "Yes, it's for you. Just like you wear the ring everyday, I wanted to get something that I could wear that showed everyone that I belonged to you."
Deena's smile grew even bigger as Sam spoke. She loved the necklace and loved that Sam wanted people to know that she was with Deena. She was so proud of Sam to not be ashamed or scared to let the world know about them anymore.
"I love it so much, Sam. I love you so much. Thank you for getting that, it makes me so happy." Deena held Sam's face in her hands and kissed Sam, the kiss broke quickly as they started smiling again in the middle of it.
