Sam fought with her dad about staying at Deena's. She spent so long without her she wanted to spend every moment she could with Deena to make up for it all.
She tried to guilt him in to letting her stay with her by saying he let her mom in the house and that got Sam sick, but he looked so disappointed and angry with himself that Sam gave in and agreed to stay with him.
Deena spent the night with Sam at her dads house. They fell asleep quickly and slept throughout the night better than they had for the past two weeks Sam's been away.
Sam's alarm for school went off. It was Sam's first day back. Sam's dad and Deena tried to get her to wait another day or two, but Sam wouldn't change her mind. She wanted to go to school, mostly because she would be with Deena and hold her hand as they walked down the halls. And to see Simon and Kate again.
Deena groaned as she went to hit Sam's alarm on her nightstand. "Good morning," She said as she turned to where Sam slept but didn't find her there anymore.
Deena got up and changed into the clothes she brought from her house since she planned to be with Sam as much as she could.
Everyday, Deena was grateful that Sam's dad allowed Deena to stay with Sam. And the fact he was nothing like his soon to be ex wife. Not anymore at least.
Once Deena opened the door from Sam's room, she could smell the familiar scent of cinnamon rolls being baked. She followed the sweet scent down the stairs and as she got towards the kitchen she could hear Sam singing softly.
Deena's heart felt as if it fluttered the moment she saw Sam smiling and singing as she baked. Deena had a smile on her face that matched how wide Sam's was.
Deena watched from the doorway as Sam moved around and sang. She looked so happy and peaceful.
Deena saw firsthand how much pain and suffering Sam has been through this last year. And to watch Sam be happy in this moment, brought tears to Deena's eyes and made her so proud of Sam.
"Oh! There you are. Good morning, my beautiful, sleepy girlfriend," Sam moved to Deena as soon as she saw her in the doorway and kissed her.
"Deena what's wrong? Why are you crying? Was it my singing? I didn't mean for anyone to hear me." Sam held Deenas face in her hands the moment she saw the tears in Deena's eyes.
Deena smiled and shook her head. "No of course it's not from your singing. It's not bad or sad tears. I was watching you with a huge smile on your face as you baked and sung. And I was thinking about everything you've been through. Seeing you happy like this after it all...just makes me so happy too. Im so proud of you. You are so strong. I'm so in love with you, Samantha Hannah Fraser." Deena moved her hands to rest on Sam's hips as she spoke.
The worried look on Sam's face turned into a smile as Deena spoke. "I'm so in love with you also. You deserve some cinnamon rolls." Sam kissed Deena then pulled back to pick up and give Deena a roll.
"I gave my dad a few as he left for work and he was so surprised I knew how to bake. My mom didn't really let me. I told him how it was your mom that taught me how to bake and cook some stuff. He said he always liked your parents and was grateful I spent time with your mom." Sam hopped up on the counter and sat on it.
"I'm happy he liked them. This is so good Sam. Thank you, you didn't have to. But thank you." Deena took another bite as she moved to between Sam's legs and looked up at her.
"My dad and Josh talked about how they missed them. And how they tasted just like my moms. They missed you too of course. They just missed the cinnamon rolls as well."
Sam laughed lightly then took Deena's wrist that held the cinnamon roll and guided Deena's hand to her mouth so she could take a bite of the roll too.
"I think you get more cute everyday," Deena said as she let Sam guide her arm.
"Do I?" Sam let go of Deena's hand and held Deena's face to look up to her. After she was done eating the bite, she tucked some of Deena's curls behind her ears.
Sam leaned down to kiss Deena's forehead then her nose a few times which always made Deena giggle. Then she kissed each of Deena's cheeks then finally ended her lips at Deena's mouth and kissed her, both of them tasting sweetness from the cinnamon on each other's lips.
Deena put the rest of the roll down on the counter and wrapped her arms tightly around Sam's waist tightly as Sam kissed her.
"You're pretty cute too. My tough but soft like a teddy bear girlfriend." Sam said as she pulled from the kiss.
Deena groaned, "fine, yes I'm soft for you. Only you and the kitten named Ziggy we will have in New York. That's it. Are you sure you want to go to school? I like the position I'm in right now and don't want to move."
"Yes, come on," Sam smiled and pulled back from Deena, "we will have lots of fun later I promise."
