After sleeping for nearly two days straight, Sam's oxygen levels were going up and her temperature was slowly going down.
All she did was lay in bed and think about Deena. Even when she was sleeping, somehow Deena found her way in.
She walked to the phone, holding onto the bed and chairs since she was still dizzy. She plugged it in. She was so hurt and confused still, but she couldn't ignore her any longer. She needed to talk to Deena. She needed Deena right now.
Sam dialed her number, and was surprised when she didn't hear her name being called on the end.
"Hello?" It was Josh.
"Hey Josh, is Deena there?"
"Oh hey Sam. Uh not she's not, I overheard something about going to the school and then going over to someone's house, someone named Riley? Simon and Kate were here too."
"Oh..." Sam felt even more sick that Deena was going to Riley's house.
"Do you want me to tell her to call you?"
"No. It's better if you don't tell her I called at all. Thanks, Josh." Sam said then hung up.
She sat on the cold, hard ground next to the table that the phone was on and brought her knees to her chest. She wrapped her arms around her legs as she leaned down and cried again.
"I don't get what you're going to do Kate." Deena said as they walked into the main hospital entrance.
"I have a friend who's going to help us. Like I said, trust me."
Deena looked at Simon then sighed. She was nervous, because she was so close to Sam now that she was in the hospital. She had so many things she needed to say to Sam.
Kate led them to a back hallway that was partly lit up. All the way down the hall was a door and Kate knocked on it.
"Ah, Nurse Beddy, I've missed you. I need a favor. It's important or else I wouldn't ask." Kate said with a smile on her face as soon as someone opened the door.
"I'm sure you do but there's a new security protocol and I need a special key to.." Beddy was cut off by Deena.
"No, I need to see a patient in the ICU. Samantha Fraser. She's isolated and no one is really allowed to visit her."
Beddy looked between Kate and Deena.
"You owe me." Beddy said to Kate which caused Kate to smirk and clap her hands.
"Okay Deena, this is all you now." Simon handed the stereo to Deena. "Don't spend too long in the bathrooms here, before you get caught."
Deena followed the nurse back into the employee section.
"Now, she's in isolation so you have to gear up." Beddy said then gave Deena scrubs, some gloves and shoe covers and a face mask.
Deena turned and went into the bathroom to change. She took a deep breath to calm down before she returned.
Beddy put on the same outfit as Deena and clipped someone else's name tag on her the flipped it around so no one could see the picture.
"You know, this has to be very important for Kate to owe me a favor for," Beddy said as they got in the elevator.
"Yeah, it is. I love her." Deena said as she kept her eyes locked straight ahead at the doors of the elevator.
Sam crawled back into bed once a nurse came in to give her pills. The nurses tried to talk with Sam and make her feel better but Sam just kept saying she was fine.
She laid back in bed after the nurse left and ran her fingers over Deena's necklace she is wearing. She was going to take it off and throw it away after the call with Deena, but she couldn't.
She just closed her eyes when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She slowly opened them to find Deena next to her, dressed in what all the other nurses were wearing. She was speechless. It didn't feel real to her.
"Sam.." Deena felt the lump in her throat when she first walked in and saw Sam. She looked as sick as the doctors told them she would be.
Sam reached up and put her hand on the side of Deena's face.
"Deena, is that you? Are you here? Is this real?" Ever since the sedative, Sam's been more tired and she couldn't believe Deena was right beside her now.
"Yes, it's Deena. It's real. Sam, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for all of it. It's not true. Kate and Simon and I just went to Riley's house for her to tell us the truth, we recorded it, I have the recording here," Deena took out the stereo and to play the recording for Sam.
Sam moved her hand from Deena's face and placed it on the stereo to stop Deena's hand from pressing play.
"I'm sorry for all of this too. I just needed time to think and breathe. I believe you. I was thinking about it since we talked and it makes sense now that Taylor would try to do this. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I didn't call yesterday. I've been so sick and tired. And then when I thought you cheated on me all my hope and strength was gone. But all I wanted and needed was you." Looked up to Deena, with tears falling down her eyes.
Deena put her hands on both sides of Sam's face and wiped her tears away with her thumbs. "Sam I love you so much. No one else matters."
"I love you so much too. Deena, I need to get out of here. How did you get in here?"
"Sam you have to stay here until you're much stronger. Kate knows someone who helped me sneak in as another nurse. Sam, no one can come between us. Not Taylor, not Caleb, not Olivia, not Riley, not your mom. Thank you for believing me. Its okay that you took time."
Deena leaned in and wrapped her wraps around Sam tightly. Deena didn't care if any of the other nurses were looking at them. Beddy was supposed to be distracting them anyways.
Sam held onto Deena and started crying on to her shoulder as Deena held her.
