the next day came forward quickly.

before class even started and people were still flooding into the room, they began talking and joking with each other.

jisung sat in his seat, taking his laptop out of his bag to bring up the doc he made of his pieces. he hummed a bit to himself, propping the laptop up.

"hey jisung!" hyunjin popped out of no where, smiling brightly and peeking over his shoulder.

jisung looked back up at him with a small smile. "hi!" he scooted his chair over so the brunette had more room to sit.

"wanna be partners?" hyunjin tilted his head, gladly taking the seat offered to him.

jisung immediately nodded. "of course! i'm really excited to see your work. i'm sure it's great." he meant it.

jisung loved looking at what other people create, seeing how it reflects them and their interests. hyunjin also seemed to love the compliment.

he gave a funny obnoxiously bashful giggle, lightly hitting jisung's shoulder. "oh stop it~ but don't actually." the delivery of his sentence made jisung laugh, nudging hyunjin with his arm.

it had felt so nice to already get along with someone like this. it was weird to be so comfortable with hyunjin already, but also very natural.

jisung looked up from his laptop when ms. jang entered the classroom, holding a random decorated bowl.

he gave a little look of confusion, as many other students did seeing this bedazzled, glittery bowl in their professor's hand.

"i see you all staring at this." suddenly there was an evil smirk to her lips, as she waved the bowl around. "i cut out names and put them in here."

a moment of dread and realization flooded through the classroom, resulting in painful groans and complaints.

everyone knew what that meant.

"that's right!" she cheered, eyes gleaming with what could only be described as joy from her students suffering. "you have to randomly pick your partner from this bowl!~" she sang in quite a beautiful tone actually.

too bad it was ruined by the content of her sentence.

"ughhh damn it. okay, guess we can't partner up after all." hyunjin pouted, and jisung sighed in pain.

"i don't wanna get partnered up with someone random.." he mumbled, feeling the annoying tinge of familiar anxiousness already form in the pit of his stomach.

"don't worry, you'll be finee." hyunjin gave a reassuring pat to jisung's arm. "it's just for today anyways. we can keep partnering up afterwards."

yeah it made sense to have someone who you weren't familiar with for the critique so they couldn't be biased, but still. barely anyone wanted to be paired with a random person.

"so let's do this by row again! the first row, from right to left, come up one by one and pick a name. once you have a partner go back to your row with them and we'll keep going until everyone is paired up." ms. jang seemed very excited to bring her students out of their shells, smiling happily as she looked over at the person opposite from jisung in his row.

jisung sighed, leaning back in his seat to watch the girl get up and come forward to the class. she reached into the decked out bowl, choosing a name and reading it out loud.

the person whose name was called got their things and moved to sit next to her as she made her way back to her original spot.

this went down the line until it was jisung's turn.

"come on, don't be shy." ms. jang encouraged, extending the bowl out to seem more welcoming.

jisung smiled at her and he walked over, knowing there really wasn't anything he could do to avoid picking someone.

as he walked up, he noticed someone glance at him from the side. he looked over and suddenly he had a realization from seeing minho sitting there, playing a game on his phone in a bored manner.

jisung completely forgot that he was still in this class.

oh god, please don't be him.

once jisung was in front of his professor, he looked inside the bowl to see if he could even see a faint letter of a last name to pick that didn't start with 'L'.

but of course, ms. jang folded them precisely to avoid that.

he held back a groan before reaching in and shuffling around the folded papers with his fingers, randomly stopping to pick one. he paused for a second, deciding that he didn't like the paper he picked and quickly changed it just to be safe.

please don't be minho

jisung took out the paper and unfolded it hesitantly. he felt his heart race (at this point it was normal) yet let go of a huge sigh of relief that the name was no where even close to lee minho.

he smiled, showing the paper to ms. jang because he still had no clue who this person was.

however as his professor read the name, she looked up and around the classroom as if it reminded her of something. she read the name one more time, and upon not seeing the face she already attached to the name it dawned on her.

"oop, i forgot she dropped out." ms. jang quickly took the piece of paper from jisung's hands and crumbled it, tossing it over her shoulder as well as jisung's relief. "pick another one!"

the blonde hesitated again (a lot less this time) but ultimately decided to just pick one and move on.

he reached into the bowl again, taking the very first paper he touched with his fingers.

he brought it out, wasting no time unfolding it this time.

all it took was seeing 'lee' elegantly scribbled on the paper for jisung to instantly deflate and feel settled with something purely negative in his stomach.

i'm gonna kill myself.

ms. jang smiled from looking over and reading the name. "ah! lee minho! you and jisung." she called to him, making the boy's eyes shoot up from his phone and look up.

minho's reaction wasn't any better.

he looked at jisung with wide eyes, before his expression clearly twisted into disgust and anger.

he opened his mouth to protest, to ask for someone else- anyone else. yet the professor didn't even notice his expression, urging jisung to take minho back to his seat.

"alright, next person!" she smiled, looking over.

jisung paused, looking back at the paper that clearly had minho's full name on it again. he wanted to curse the hand that choose his name out of all the possibilities.

he was so angry.
