scaring people isn't as easy as it seems.
sometimes it was, but mostly it wasn't.
whenever jisung mustered up enough courage to try and scare people, it was always to no avail.
they seemed to be more startled by minho's cold and dark glare rather than jisung trying to gurgle zombie noises out of his already sore throat.
"you're not scary." minho scoffed through a moment of break. "i've made more people jump just by barely stepping towards them."
jisung's face contorted with agitation. "it's hard to scare people." he defended, slumping so that his back met the wall. "and i'm tired. my throat hurts. and it's hot in here from the fog machine."
"you also have an advantage." jisung made sure to add, eyeing the older completely before turning his head away sourly.
"and that is?" minho raised an eyebrow as he took a swig of water because yes, it was indeed hot in there.
"your position! you're right at the corner. everyone knows that corners are automatically scary. also, not to mention, they see you right before they get a chance to see me." jisung checked the time on his phone.
it was 8:00 pm. they were barely done with this whole thing.
"so their potential to get scared is down by the time they see me." he finishes with a pout.
"maybe you should take off your makeup then. that'll be sure to scare more people." it was a little jab and a very typical joke to make given their position, but it still riled jisung up nonetheless.
"i will rip those fangs out of your mouth, lord help me."
"you can't even scare the little children." by now, minho was snickering and laughing. it was all belittling and positively aiming to get a rise out of the younger, so the blonde bit his tongue and cooled himself down.
after more statements between laughs and snorts about how jisung couldn't be scary because his facial features were 'too soft to do any damage' he had heard enough.
"fine. you wanna see scary? okay. i'll scare more people than you could ever be capable of." that single sentence was enough to start a war.
suddenly minho's eyes felt a whole lot darker and his laughing was finally brought to an end. "oh? you think you could beat me?" he snorted. "in your fucking dreams."
and thus, the competition began.
once the small break was over, people started walking in through the haunted house once again.
this time, with a new determination set in him, jisung crouched by the floor and his behind a box, the furthest he could've gotten from minho.
with the older actually beginning to try now, he managed to make the group walking by scream by lunching at them.
by the time they were in jisung's territory, he popped out with a much improved zombie sound, which had a teenage girl falling and having to get picked up by her boyfriend.
it might be awful, but the rush of pride that overcame the two of them from making someone scream was fun.
and the competition only became more serious after that.
the entire night, they worked their asses off to simply prove a point, and to get as many screams as possible.
they couldn't lie, it was entertaining.
popping out at people through the fog and blinking lights and getting to see their scared reactions was well worth the initial want to go home.
because the two of them eventually formed a routine together.
