the problem was never lack of communication.
but that was exactly why this situation was special and vile in its own way.
the issue here wasn't not knowing how the other felt. it was saying the wrong thing.
maybe things would've been easier if this was still a case of not knowing how the other felt instead of it being them telling each other that they didn't have feelings.
this was different than simply confessing at this point. this was more than asking and finding out.
to one person, this was a challenge of getting the other to realize. and to the other, it was making sure he didn't cross any lines or push any boundaries.
the both of them wanted to avoid confusion.
but that made it all the more confusing.
jisung had been getting upset lately.
he knew something was different with minho and it was driving him crazy. absolutely insane and upset.
it wasn't like minho was completely ignoring him. in fact, he still cooked and made sure jisung was going alright all the time.
but that wasn't the issue.
despite still talking to jisung and still being kind- he never let jisung do the old things he used to do.
he stopped challenging jisung. he stopped playfully flirting with him. he ended the seven years joke- all of it was just gone.
no sly remarks about jisung possibly getting flustered, no joking attempts to get the blonde to kiss him,
and even though jisung wasn't being ignored, their conversations never felt full.
they felt so lackluster. so plain. almost like a huge part of their conversation was missing.
it was flat and bland. way shorter than what they used to be.
and all of this was really fucking up jisung's plan.
jisung had more motivation to do this when minho was actually close with him but now it felt so entirely wrong and the sinking feeling in his stomach refused to go away.
was he doing something wrong..?
minho had avoided jisung three times already today. each time during their shared class.
the first time where jisung was trying to put a clip in his hair like he did in the past. minho only laughed a little and took the clip out of his hand, placing it back in the mop of blonde hair from which it originated from and looked back at the professor like nothing.
the second time where jisung tried to nudge minho's leg from underneath the table to get him to hit back like he typically did. except this time there was no reaction and no kick backs.
and the last time where jisung was absolutely so desperate to get a familiar reaction out of the older that he was trying to act cute.
he was whining about being tired, tugging on minho shirt and asking him if he could use his arm as a human pillow.
instead minho immediately turned his head the other way and explained that class would be over in a couple of minutes and he could go to sleep once they got home.
jisung was pissed.
he was frustrated and also kinda hurt.
he couldn't even explain why he was hurt. it's not like minho was completely ignoring him or anything. but it was different now.
