hyunjin should've been kept on a child's-leash.

the second they got inside the mall he ran to the very first store he saw, practically sprinting and making everyone else follow quickly behind.

"maybe you shouldn't spend so much-" felix wearily stated from seeing hyunjin pick up multiple articles of clothing in a matter of mere seconds.

however the brunette just tsked and waved his hand passively. "i have plenty to spend." he said easily, making jisung blink and form questions in his head.

"really? what do you do for work?" he briefly looked over at a shirt he liked on a hanger that had a cool design on it, but focused back on the taller.

"i have a family member in the fashion industry. she's super serious about her work and gained a lot of popularity- she runs her own fashion business." he began, trailing off from seeing a pretty sweater that caught his eye.

he picked it up and added it to the pile. "i help her come up with designs and detailing sometimes, and in return she gives me a heap of the money. it's not really a set job per se but it's definitely sturdy."

at this, both felix and jisung found their jaws falling open. "what? THAT'S SO COOL!" felix instantly grabbed onto hyunjin's arm in wonder. "can you tell us who she is? can you show us your designs?" he shook the arm balancing the pile of clothes.

hyunjin laughed and smiled so brightly that it was enough to reach his eyes. "i would love to, but since i'm not 'officially' signed under her company we could get into some trouble if it got out. it's more like a little secret we have- she makes great designs by herself all the time, but we all have our off days. that's when i help."

jisung nodded at this, biting into the cone part of his ice cream. "art block's a bitch." he claimed, making hyunjin agree with a hum.

"exactly. what about you guys? do you guys work?" he asked, going back to paying attention to the racks of items in front of him, running his hand along the bundle to see if he saw another pattern he liked.

jisung sighed, crunching on another bite of the cone. "i just do commissions. it's enough to make a few dollars, but it's not really sturdy. i need to find a job soon." he twisted a piece of hair between his fingers as he chewed. "but it surprised me how many people were willing to get something done by me."

minho had long finished his ice cream by now, considering they had already been in this particular store for some time now. he crossed his arms comfortably as he watched hyunjin go batshit crazy. "definitely surprising." he agreed.

jisung glared over instantly. "what's surprising?" he murmured, clearly knowing what minho was insinuating. "that people pay for my art? well then, what do you do for work?"

the redirection made minho raise an eyebrow. "none of your business." he simply said.

"what, you leach off your parents or something?" jisung implied, narrowing his eyes once he saw minho give a pointed look towards him.

"nope, minho definitely works." hyunjin debunked, finally relaxing and resisting the urge to pick up ten more items. "okay! i think i'm done. guys, get stuff!!" he whined, not wanting to be the only one buying.

"i'll even buy you each one thing. pick wisely! i'm gonna go try some of these on." hyunjin waddled over to the dressing room with the pile of clothes before he could hear protests about him getting his friends things.

jisung sighed and looked around, not really searching for anything in particular. nothing too expensive either, since he knew hyunjin would forcefully pay no matter what he said.
