The Tardis landed peacefully in Roald Dahl Plass much to Martha's nonunderstanding confusion. "Cardiff?" she asked, feeling greatly taken aback.

"The thing about Cardiff, it's built on a rift in time and space. Just like California and the San Andreas Fault. But the rift bleeds energy. Every now and then I need to open up the engines, soak up the energy and use it as fuel." the Doctor explained as both he and Echo calmly worked the controls to help their cherished Tardis along.

"So it's a pit shop." she realized aloud and with a humored smile.

Echo smiled in return as she flipped another dial and pulled a lever. "Absolutely correct, my love. We'll only have to be here another twenty seconds or so." When she looked at the monitor, she furrowed her brow with interest. "Now that's strange. It looks like the rift's been active." then moved away for her Doctor to take a look.

"Wait a minute. They had an earthquake in Cardiff a couple of years ago. Was that you two?" Martha then asked with happy intrigue.

"Had a bit of trouble with the Slitheen. That was before I met Echo. It was a long time ago. Lifetimes. I was a different man back then." the Time Lord explained as they began closing the engines. "There we are. All powered up."

After a quick glance at the monitor, his expression remained composed while he internally felt a strong urge to get away as fast as they possibly could. Though, moments later, there was a loud thump and something went 'Bang!' on the console. "Woah! What's that? What happened?" Martha asked worriedly as they both moved around  the console to try and regain control. All to no avail.

"We're accelerating into the future! The year one billion. Five billion. Five trillion. Fifty trillion? What? The year one hundred trillion? That's impossible." he revealed in startled concern.

"Why? What happens then?" Martha asked with her own concern etched across her features.

"Sounds like we're headed straight for the end of the universe, boy-o." Echo answered excitedly, eager to explore the foreign time line. Sure she'd witnessed the universe's collapse. But she'd never actually traveled there in person. Therefore, a strong sense of enthusiasm washed through her.

After their surroundings became still, they were enveloped in foreboding silence. "Well, we've landed." the Doctor said quietly, unsure on how to feel towards their new destination.

"What do you think is out there?" their companion asked, feeling both intrigue and nervous towards the unknown.

"No idea."
"I don't know."
said both lovers in unison.

Martha raised her eyebrows with intense surprise. "Say that again. That's rare."

"Not even the Time Lords came this far." he said with a far away gaze. "We should leave. We should go. We should really, really go." Then, unable to stop himself to any capacity, he grinned excitedly and ran to the doors.
