CHAPTER 5

ECLIPSE'S MIND

C- I imagine an inhale in this blank space.

6 YEARS AGO....

"Hey! Eclipse! Wake up! Look at the moon!!!!" Past

C- Oh! Past is a NAME!

G- Past is very cool in the newer ones Lexsi's writing.

yelled in her little sister's ear. "Wow, I never realized how brown you are." Said Eclipse. "Yup! A brown husky!!!"

C- A brown husky and a black dog are sisters... Okay, let's just see...

Past said. "This is the sunniest day of the year! Are you excited?" "I'm just excited for nap time. In the dark, quiet space." "Ugh, come on sis! You say that ALL the time." "I'm a dark wolf

ALL- WOLF?

M- I don't remember that!

who likes the dark! What can I say?" "Sissies! Mommy caught a penguin!" Said Daylight, Past and Eclipse's little sister. Which was born with sun powers. "YUM! Coming! I CALL FIRST DIBS!" cried Eclipse. "Oh, so NOW you're active. When food arrives." Laughed Past. "Oh, Present, this is the emperor penguin! I love your hunting powers!"

C- And what are they? Sniffing?

Said Future, the pup's dad. He was brown with a beautiful white streak down his muzzle. Present, the pup's mom, was a dark brown.

T- Both brown... Black dog, brown husky, and potentially golden dog... Something doesn't add up.

As Eclipse sat and ate, she realized that her mom made the catch that no one had ever seen in family history. That night, Eclipse wanted to make her family proud. She set off to find another rare catch. Her sister, Past, was on watch. Eclipse used her invisibility and night vision. Past had used her HEAT VISION.

C- I'm wondering if the author's mindset was like "What superpower would help them the most?" And then slap it on there.

She saw Eclipse and ran towards her. Eclipse turned around, and went headfirst into Past's body. She now is in the mind of Past. She put Past back to sleep. And jumped into her own body again.

M- I don't think she'll do that for the rest of the book.

"Speak no more of this, Past ." Eclipse said. "You once made the family proud." Eclipse said selfishly.

C- I didn't know she was selfish! Thanks!

"Now I will...." She laughed. She then got pecked on the head. She looked up, and there was the rare penguin, the one that can fly into space.

G- Penguins flying?

She caught it. But the moon started getting brighter. For some reason, she saw her family. Looking at the moon in terror, Eclipse ran toward them, losing a heartbeat every breath.

C- How does that work?

A beam shot down, she tried to push them.... But it was too late. Her family was transported onto the moon. And all Eclipse was seeing was a gemstone gently blazing across the sky,

M- That sounds familiar.

T- I don't know if that's Eclipse or Present.
