Levi ordered all of us to clean the entire castle. It was taking most of the day.

I was cleaning a room that looks like it could be used as an office. Suddenly, Levi walked in the room.

"Captain Levi? G-Good afternoon." You greeted.

"Relax, I'm just checking on Yeager's work." He stated, having a look around.

"I see. He asked me where he'd be sleeping, I didn't know what to say." I mentioned.

"Cellar." Levi answered.

"Why there?!" I asked.

"We don't want him going titan in his sleep. It's the safest option. Besides, I doubt someone like you could kill him." Levi explained. I sighed.

"Must you always be so harsh?" I asked. He narrowed his eyes toward me.

"Must you be so stupid?" He insulted.

"Stupid? I wouldn't be here if I was stupid!" I retorted.

"Whatever, meet me this evening in the courtyard, there we will start your training." Levi mentioned, leaving the room. I let out another sigh.

"Yes sir..." I mumbled.

I eventually finished cleaning and I went off to the dining hall and met up with the rest of the squad. Eren looked a little upset. I think I know why so I won't question. I took a seat near the end of the table next to Gunther. Levi eventually walked in and took a seat at the end of the table beside me. Petra was nice enough to make us all tea.

"So, (y/n), when will you start conducting your experiments on Eren?" Gunther asked.

"Experiments? I'm just going to find out as much as I can from Eren and link it to what I already know." I responded.

"Well now that's boring. You're not gonna put the brat under the knife?" Oulo asked, crossing his arms.

"I'm not going to dissect him. Not at all. I'll probably run some experiments, but they will be harmless. No cutting involved." I stated. Eren looked more relieved.

"Anyway, it's safe to assume our standing orders will come in next week." Eld mentioned. He began explaining about the expedition. It was brought up that graduates that want to join the scouts will be tagging along too. Everyone was questioning about it.

Already? This can't be right. Eren and the rest already experienced enough from the last titan attack, why put the rookies through that again.

"Mission planning isn't my responsibility, it's Erwin's. You can bet he's obsessed with this mission in every way." Levi added.

"That's the truth, especially given how unique the situation is." Eld mentioned.

"Do you mean Eren?" I asked.

"What else would it be? A titan shifter on our side. It's a first so of course Commander Erwin is going to be excited about this, and desperate." Gunther explained.

"Point taken. In the meantime, I'll do what I can." I mentioned.

"I count on you, (y/n)!" Petra cheered.

Levi stood up from his chair.

"Alright then, dismissed. Gunther, Eld, keep an eye on Eren. (y/n), you come with me." Levi ordered.

"Yes sir." I answered, standing up from my chair. I followed him until we were in the court yard.

"Our training begins here. You might want to take the jacket off, you don't want to get it dirty with your sweat." Levi advised taking off his jacket and neatly folding it onto the fence. I nodded and did the same. I noticed he was wearing a lot of belt around his body.

"Captain Levi, if I may ask, what's with all the belts?" I asked.

"It's for 3DM Gear. You'll get yours soon enough, assuming you learn how to fight. Oh, and by the way, just call me Levi when we are alone." Levi explained. I nodded. I did a few warm up stretches while Levi just stood there waiting for me. I felt a tinge of embarrassment.

I stood straight at him.

"Come at me with everything you've got." Levi said. I let out a gasp. Just like that?!

"W-What?"

"Hurry it up, will you?" Levi scolded. I gulped and took a deep breath.

"Here goes nothing..." I'm so going to die.

I began running towards him in an attack position. He didn't even move a budge! When I came into contact, I went to put him in an arm lock when suddenly, he grabbed my arm and leg and flung me to the ground.

"Gugh!" I groaned, hitting my head.

"That was pathetic. Again, and do it better." Levi ordered. I stood up rubbing my head. Dammit... Should I just go all out on him?

"Fine then." I sprinted towards him, faster this time. He looked surprised by it. I went for an attack again, but when he went to grab me, I dodged and rushed to the side of him. I grabbed his arm and pulled it back into a lock position. I've got you now.

I was pleased with myself. He looked so shocked. But then suddenly, his leg flung at me and kicked me square in the stomach.

"Ahh!" I collapsed to the ground, coughing and holding myself. "Man, that hurt *cough*" Levi walked over.

"Not bad, but you need to be aware of your surroundings more. Otherwise, you did pretty good." Levi smirked.

I gasped. Was that a compliment and a smile?! Levi offered his hand to me.

"Get off the ground, brat. You'll get dirty." He spoke. I took his hand and stood back up.

"Thank you Cap- I mean Levi." I replied. He ignored it and for a little while longer we trained some more. My body hurt all over and I had enough scratches on my body to tell Levi I was done.

"I'll admit, not bad for your first try out. You'll need to improve a lot." Levi spoke, as he tended to my wounds.

"Thank you very much." I replied. Maybe Levi isn't as bad as he makes himself out to be? I looked at his face for a moment, especially his eyes. I know this feeling, it's too familiar. But where does this feeling come from?

"What is it, brat?" Levi asked, as he caught me staring. I blushed and looked away in embarrassment.

"N-Nothing, I apologize." I murmured.

"Tch. Anyway, what you said back in court was a real eye opener. Especially when you stuck up for the brat's girlfriend like that. You seem pretty curious about the Ackerman's. Why is that?" Levi asked.

"Well, it's just... My father knew a few a long time ago when I was just a kid. He used to treat a woman who had a pretty serious illness." I explained. He stopped for a moment and looked down. I continued to speak. "I also know that they took care of me at some point." I added. Levi let out a small gasp.

"What do you mean took care of you?" Levi asked, looking directly at me.

"Um, when I was just very small, father would get threatened daily about his study for titans. Some were curious about it and wanted to get their hands on the information, some might even do some drastic measures. I got separated from father for a few weeks, and I was found and brought in." I explained. Levi remained completely still. "I know the woman worked at a brothel, doing her best to raise her only child. When she was working, she bumped into my father. No bad intention, he was looking for me and luckily, he came to the right place. I was returned to my father and he felt eternally grateful to them for taking care of me. He decided to help their lifestyle by treating the woman for her sickness." I explained.

"What... was her name...?" Levi asked, in a disturbed voice.

"I don't remember. I think her name was Kuchel." I answered. Levi had a mortified expression on his face. He immediately stood up and stormed out.

"Levi?!" I called out. Was it something I said?
