The ride home was silent, but of course there was nothing to talk about.

We finally arrived and we went inside.

It was dark and cold inside. I sat Lilliana down in her corner and lit some candles. I started the fireplace.

Dimitri was still standing by the door with his head down.

I approached him and put my hands on his shoulders.

"How about I make you something to eat? You must be starving, I know I am." I suggested, trying to lighten to mood.

I lead Dimitri to the sofa and he sat down and remained silent.

I tied my hair up and put my apron on. I began to prepare dinner and I decided to make Kuchel's recipe. Hoping it'll turn out better this time.

I finished making dinner and I served up a few dishes. I left plenty of leftovers for Levi and just in case Dimitri was still hungry.

Dimitri sat at the table and looked at the meal. I sat across from him with Lilliana on my chest.

"Does it not look good?" I asked, worried that he might not like it.

"No it's fine." Dimitri grabbed the spoon and stirred the soup for a moment. He took a scoop and blew on it and then tried it.

All of the sudden, tears began spilling down his face and he began sobbing.

"What's wrong? Is the food not good?" I asked.

Did my bad cooking trigger him?!

Dimitri continued to eat the soup and he bit chunks of the bread roll. He cried while he ate.

He's going to be very emotional for a while, so I shouldn't be surprised he just suddenly cries out of the blue.

He finished crying once he finished eating.

"Sorry..." He murmured, rubbing his eyes.

"Don't be sorry. I understand. Would you like some more soup?" I asked.

He nodded his head.

I wasted no time serving him another bowl and this time he ate it without crying.

Later on, Lilliana was doing tummy time and Dimitri was laying on the floor in front of her making her laugh.

It wasn't long afterwards that they both ended up falling asleep.

While they slept, I cleaned the kitchen before Levi got home. I didn't want him to come home to a messy kitchen.

Just as I was thinking that; Levi walked through the door.

"Welcome home." I greeted, walking over.

Levi looked over to see Dimitri and Lilliana asleep on the floor.

"What's going on?" Levi questioned.

I grabbed his arm and lead him into the bedroom.

"Dimitri's going to be staying with us for a while." I answered.

"Why?" Levi questioned, sounding slightly annoyed.

"Grace passed away this morning. I didn't want to leave him alone so I offered him to come home with me. He was very upset for most of the day but he's finally settled down. I want to keep an eye on him for a while." I explained.
