The boulder handed at the bottom of the gate, shattering and blocking off the exit.
"Looks like he missed!"
"Not so. That was a well-played shot. He blocked off the entrance, there's no riding through it now. They had us all but surrounded. They plan to target our horses, block our escape routes and slaughter us. The enemy hopes for the same thing we do; to win this conflict once and for all! It's our side or theirs now! We can let the titans crush us or bring them crashing down!" Erwin explained, raising his blade up high.
"Commander, I could transform and go straight for the beast titan." I suggested, as I felt my body shaking.
"No. Even if you had the upper hand, the surrounding titans would come in from all directions. Tackling you and possibly finishing you off. There's no where you could run without titans attacking you." Erwin explained.
"But with my armour, I should be alright." I mentioned.
"Even so, you'll be too overwhelmed. The beast titan might even use his boulders to open your nape and get you. It's too risky, even for you." Erwin explained.
I clenched my fists in frustration.
"Then what am I supposed to do?" I asked, feeling my blood boiling.
"For now, you stay here. When the time is right, then you can go." Erwin explained.
I can't just stand here and watch. I have to do something. But Erwin is right; if I go straight for the target, I will be surrounded by the titans and I won't be able to fight them off. And... who knows how strong the big guy is... With arms like those, he could probably knock my head clean off.
Levi then walked over.
"Commander, he's about to climb." Levi pointed out, referring to Reiner.
I looked over and saw Reiner turning his fingers and toes into claws.
"Not him too..."
He then charged straight for the wall. He then dug his hands and feet into the wall.
"Soldiers! You are not yet to engage the armoured titan! Maintain a safe distance!" Erwin ordered.
"Yes sir!"
"Hange! Why doesn't he have us attack? What's he thinking?!" Eren questioned.
"The enemy prepared quite the welcome. He's watching their movements for now; Erwin doesn't want to act until he understands their strategy." Hange explained.
I looked back towards the beast titan and noticed a titan on all fours with cargo on its back.
"Erwin look. That titan has cargo on its back. Which means it didn't recently transform." I pointed out.
"It's almost likely that this was the enemy's scout. It would've taken notice of our approach and relay that message to Reiner. That must mean... They have one more intelligent titan. It's that cart titan. Though there may well be others." Erwin explained.
I looked in the distance and lined up behind the beast titan, were a few other titans that looked very familiar. I've never seen them myself, but their titans look similar to mine.
"Don't tell me..."
"What is it?" Erwin questioned.
"Those titans in the back are the same as me. They are mutated titan shifters. There are warriors inside ready and waiting. I don't know what other traits they may possess, but I know that I'll be the only one capable of dealing with them." I explained.
