We made it back to the surface and we arrived at HQ.
"(y/n)! Where have you been?! I was worried sick about you!" Hange called out, as she hugged me. I patted her back and gave her a small smile.
"I just had to go home for a little bit, I needed to clear my head." I explained, as Hange stepped away from me. She had her hands on my shoulders and she looked at my face.
"Have you been crying? You look awful." She pointed out.
"No, well a little bit. I've just been emotional, but I promise it's nothing you need to worry about." I replied, giggling. Hange let out a sigh of relief.
"Anyway, we need to make a way to the center of Wall Sina, you will not believe what we discovered." Hange mentioned.
"What's going on?" Levi asked in usual cold voice.
"There are Titans in the wall, I mean actually inside the wall." She replied. We both let out a gasp of shock.
"Inside the wall?! No way, you're kidding!" I blurted, stepping back.
"I'm not kidding! And I don't think it's the only one. But, we are taking Eren and the others away. The titans have breached wall Rose. Soldiers say that they have been spotted making their way here." Hange explained in a serious tone. I was shocked. They made it in this far already? But how? From what I know, only the Colossal and Armoured Titan have ben managed to break through the wall. But... if they have, then that's not a good sign.
"Where's Eren?" I asked.
"Mikasa and Armin and bringing him here now. We need to go by carriage. Will you two be able to manage?" Hange questioned.
"I will but I'm not sure about Levi, he's still injured." I pointed out.
"I'll be fine. We just need to move." Levi replied. Hange smiled and someone walked over beside her. I was surprised to see who it was.
"Minister Nick?!" I blurted. He had a gloomy expression on his face.
"What's that old goat doing here?" Levi questioned.
"Believe or not but he knows about the titans in the walls, in fact he knows a lot more, but he refuses to talk." Hange explained, smacking him on the back. We headed for the carriage and we saw, Armin, Mikasa and Eren waiting for us.
"W-What are you guys doing here?!" Eren blurted.
"Good to see you're looking well, Eren." I greeted. We got into the carriage and we sat opposite from the three. I saw opposite Mikasa.
"What's he doing here?" Eren asked, looking at Nick.
"He has every right to be here just as us, don't ya think?" Hange teased, hooking her arm around his shoulders. The cart began moving and we were making our way to Ehrmich District for sanctuary. We were with the rest of the scouts.
"Seems like this guy knows something about the titans in the walls, but he won't say anything. He won't even explain during this time of attack." Hange explained, sighing.
"Wait hold up! He knew? This guy knew, and he kept quiet?!" Eren bellowed.
"Uh huh, just about sums up about where we are in all this. Cat's out of the bag now of course, he's not willing to talk yet, but we'll see how he feels after a harsh dose of reality. Faith keeps him quiet, but reality..." Hange explains. Eren stood up from his spot.
"To hell with that! No, we're doing it backwards, if this son of a bitch knows something about this then he needs to come out with this! Humanity's on the brink of extinction and all you care about is keeping your oath?!" Eren bellowed. I lifted my leg up and pushed him back down to his seat.
"Eren, you need to calm down." I pointed out.
"She's right, you're still not fully recovered." Mikasa mentioned, patting his shoulder. He covered his face with one hand as he has a pained look. I looked down and saw Levi pull out a pistol and pointed it at Nick. I gasped and grabbed his arm.
"What are you doing?" I asked, in a whisper.
"There's more than one way to getting at the truth. Granted I may not be at top form at the moment, but it doesn't take much strength to squeeze a trigger. With that said, I'm genially hope I won't have to blow a hole in you to settle this." Levi warned, with a grimaced expression.
"Threatening him doesn't work Levi, trust me on that." Hange mentioned. I pulled his arm away and took the pistol from his hand.
"You also need to relax; blood spilling will get us nowhere." I pointed out. Levi looked in my direction for a moment, then turning his head away.
"Agree with him or not there's no doubt that our man here is a man of principle, which of course leads me to wonder... If he's unwilling to talk, what in god's name do you think he's putting above the fate of humanity?" Hange questioned, looking over.
We've been travelling for quite some time now, and I noticed that Hange was holding a strange looking crystal or stone. It looked similar to Annie's titan skin.
"Hey four-eyes, since when are you a geologist? Or are rocks just that fascinating? Looks like you're about to drool.
"What this? This isn't a rock, not an ordinary rock anyway. It's a hardened piece of skin left behind from the female titan." Hange explained. We were all shocked.
"It didn't vanish?!" Armin blurted.
"No, this piece broke off when Annie reverted back to human form. It's didn't evaporate, it didn't simply go poof. And that got me thinking, when I examined it and compared it to a sliver of the wall, it's texture and composition were virtually identical." Hange explained.
"So, you are saying the wall is actually titan skin?" I questioned. Hange nodded and continued with her theory.
"Basically, our walls are made out of huge titans, colossals to be exact."
"You're kidding me, that's what Armin was trying to say." Mikasa spoke up. Armin gasped.
"So then-" Armin was interrupted by Hange's hand facepalming him.
"Easy, it's rude to steal someone else's thunder. As it stands, we'd be hard pressed to find a rock big enough to block wall Rose. It would have to the right shape and size-" I interrupted Hange this time.
"Eren, if you can find a way to harden your skin, you can plug up the hole and that would be great." I pointed out. Hange frowned at me. Eren was in total shock.
"I could... plug the hole..." He muttered.
"Just like Annie and the wall itself, your skin should be the same material, and when you transform back it will remain in tact without dissolving. Any thoughts?" I explained.
"Well at this point anything is worth the risk." Armin mentioned.
"Nothing ventured nothing gained." Hange said.
"If we can block up wall Rose, then wall Maria looks fairly promising." Armin added. I smirked and looked out to the side.
"Time and resources would be time consuming, if we do manage to reclaim wall Maria, it'll take months before everything will be in working order again, but that means farmland will be better, and even at some point, venture out and reclaim this world." I explained. But, from what I discovered hence my memories, something tells me we aren't the only humans here.
"Others tested her titan ability by submitting her to torture, however it was catastrophic, and she ended up eating one of the scientists."
What did he mean by that? Just what the hell am I?
