"Isabel...?"

"What's wrong?" I asked, turning my body to face him. I noticed his fists were clenched.

"It's nothing..." Levi replied, stepping back.

"Tell me, you can tell me anything." I spoke, stepping closer to him. He looked away, avoiding eye contact. His sudden behaviour made me a little anxious. Why would he be upset about a girl I mention? Hang on, he knew her? Did they have something going on between them?

Thinking that, my heart began to ache with worry and paranoia.

"Levi..." I murmured. Levi exited the bathroom and walked back into the living room. Wanting to know the truth, I followed him. "Levi!"

He remained silent with his back turned to me.

"Levi, talk to me... What's wrong? What's gotten you so upset?" I asked.

Still no response. I walked closer and grasped his hand.

"Levi... Please confide your thoughts into me. We promised to tell each other anything. I'm going to be your wife, aren't I?" I asked, feeling sadness begin to consume me. Levi turned his head to the side to get a glimpse of me. I squeezed his hand.

What if something did happen between them? Am I just in the way now?

"Is Isabel... a former lover of yours?" I asked, feeling tears corner my eyes. I heard a gasp come from Levi and he immediately faced me.

"No, of course not! She was just some dumb kid who I knew!" Levi snapped.

"You're obviously lying! You wouldn't just so upset over some dumb kid! Why are you hiding things from me?" I asked, feeling anger arise.

Levi glared at me, then taking a deep breath to calm himself. He returned the grasp on my hand and stepped closer to me.

"I knew Isabel as well, she was like a younger sister to me. She was a member of my gang back in the day. She was being followed by a bunch of drunks were the guarding the stairs to the higher grounds. I saved her, and she begged to join. Naturally, and reluctantly, I let her. For a whole year she lived with me and my friend and we would steal from the MP's. She was an idiot, but... she always had a smile on her face." Levi explained, with an expression of peace.

"Where is she now?" I asked. I felt his grasp tighten and the expression of peace fade.

"We were caught by Erwin and the other Scouts, forced to join so we didn't end up in the hands of the Military Police. Our initial plan was to kill Erwin as we were ordered by a shady bastard. We had an upcoming expedition coming up and I decided to go out on my own to kill him. Isabel wouldn't have it, so she and my friend Farlen decided to follow me and stick with me. I did the stupid thing and decided to trust them, and that's what got them killed." Levi explained

What?! They died?

"What happened?" I asked, trying not to upset him.

"Titans... I left them alone in search of Erwin. But... it was a bad idea, by the time I got back, it was too late. And ever since, I've regretted my actions, and I never open up to people. However, you managed to find a way into my heart and see my true self. You saved me from loneliness, (y/n)..." Levi explained, caressing my cheek.

"Levi..."

"You are someone I can never hide my feelings from. You are also the only woman I have ever loved." Levi moved closer and brought his lips close to mine. I quickly put my hand up to stop him. His eye's widened in confusion.
