~flashback time~

I was but a small child running for my life. I was running from these men who wanted to hurt me. My arms and legs were aching, my head was spinning with disturbing thoughts, I was running from the clutches of death. Sleep beckoned me, exhaustion overthrew me, my legs ready to give in, but no. I couldn't stop now, or they'd get me. I'd die. I'd never see Daddy or Mama again.

I was at a point where nobody would see me. I ran between and alleyway and collapsed to the ground behind a couple of crates. I was breathing heavily, and I lost the feeling to my legs.

"Mama..." I murmured, as I felt ready to sleep.

"Mama, what is that?" Asked the voice of a little boy.

"Oh no, it's an injured child." Spoke a comforting voice. I couldn't lift my head, but I averted my eyes up and I saw a woman with long raven hair, and she was holding the hand of a little boy with a similar appearance. The woman lifted me up and examined my face.

"Are you alright, little one?" She asked, brushing the hair out of my eyes.

"I... run... Bad man... I..." I couldn't speak; I didn't know what to say, my mind was delusional.

"You seem to have a concussion, I'll take you back with us and take care of you." She spoke so softly, it reminded me of my own mother's soothing voice. It made me feel better, happy... I drifted off into a deep sleep.

"Mama, who is that?" The boy asked, as he was tugging on her shirt.

"I don't know her name, but we can't leave her here, so you and I are going to take care of the girl until we find her family." The woman explained, lifting me off the dirt. She held me like I was her own. The boy puffed his cheeks and clutched onto her arm.

"Mama, we going home now?" He asked.

"Yes, Levi." She replied.

They took me back to an old apartment. It wasn't much, but it was enough for them. The woman laid me down onto a bed and began to clean my face from the cuts and dirt. Levi stood next to her, staring down at me.

"You poor thing, you're burning up. Your feet are really scratched up too. Just where did you come from?" She wondered, as she was washing my arm.

"Is she okay?" Levi wondered, softly poking my cheek.

"She's ill and hurt, but I think she'll be alright. All we need to do and to is look after her and wait for her to wake up." She explained, stroking Levi's hair.

The next day, I slowly opened my eyes, circling my vision. My sight was blurry for a moment, then it all became clear. My body was overheating, and I felt uncomfortable. I tilted my head to the side to see where I was. A small house, with a lot of cracks in the walls. Then, the woman who saved me walked over with a small bowl and towel. Levi followed behind.

"Oh, you're awake. Thank goodness." She said, with a soft smile. Levi was clinging to her shirt, trying to hide his face, but still interested in staring at me. "What is your name?" She asked. It took me a minute before I could make a sound.

"(y-yn)..." I murmured, as my voice was soft. My throat felt really dry, hunger and thirst were pleading to be satisfied.

"(y/n)? What a lovely name. I'm Kuchel, Kuchel Ackerman, and this is my son Levi." She introduced. After hearing their names, I felt more relaxed.
