When we arrived at the surface, a carriage awaited for us.

"It's so bright." Dimitri muttered, as he shielded his eyes with his arm.

"But the sun feels so warm..." Grace whispered, with a soft smile on her face.

All the other children were excited to see the sunlight.

"Now please get on the carriage and we can take you to your new home. A full course meal is waiting for you." I explained.

The children ran to the carriage and jumped on. Levi gently placed Grace down in a laying position and Dimitri decided to use his lap as a pillow for her. I let her keep my coat for a blanket. Levi and I climbed onto the front and Levi led the horses off and we were on our way.

~~

The evening came and we finally arrived. Looking back, I could see the children were all tired and hungry.

"We're here. Feel free to go inside." I suggested.

They all jumped out and ran across the fields in celebration. Levi went over and helped Grace up onto his back again.

I went to the building and opened the door to see everyone inside placing each of the meals on the table. Historia saw me and rushed over.

"How did it go?" Historia asked. I stepped the side.

"See for yourself." I commented. She stepped forward and saw all the children running around, playing with each other.

"Everyone! Come over here!" I called out, waving my arm.

They all rushed over laughing. They stopped in front of us and looked at Historia.

"May I introduce, Queen Historia. It was her doing and her idea to create a place for all of you to live peacefully. So, she is the one to thank." I explained.

Historia blushed and scratched her cheek.

"It was your idea as well, (y/n). And you were the ones to get them. So, I really must be thanking you." Historia spoke.

"I don't mind at all. Anyway, I'm also a Doctor, so if any of you aren't feeling well or you're injured in any way, please feel free to come to me for help any time." I mentioned.

"You all must be starving. Please come in and help yourselves to some food." Historia spoke, as she stepped to the side.

The children smiled and rushed inside, screaming and shouting with excitement.

In a matter of minutes, you could hear the clinking of forks and bowls.

Levi sat Grace down at one of the tables and Dimitri was right by her side.

"Will you be able to eat?" He asked.

"Yes, I think so. Please don't worry so much about me. You enjoy your meal." Grace smiled.

~~

After everyone ate, we directed them to the rooms where they would sleep. Dimitri insisted on staying by his sister's side. I couldn't blame him. I was always clinging onto Zeke when I was sick. I hated sleeping alone.

"Before you go to bed, you need to have a bath. You'll make the beds filthy." Levi ordered, with a very serious expression.

"Huh?!" Dimitri was not excited for it.

"Dimitri, you go with Levi and get cleaned up." I suggested.

"But why?!" He complained.

"I'll make sure Grace gets cleaned up. Don't worry. You'll see her shortly." I cheered.

Dimitri let out a grunt and began walking with Levi to one of the bathrooms. I helped Grace to the other bathroom, and I began filling the tub with warm water. I even added a few things to make her feel a bit better.

"Thank you so much, (y/n)." Grace spoke.

"It's alright. I'm glad that you're here. I know how cold it is down there." I mentioned. I helped her undress and get into the tub.

"Wow! It's so warm!!" Grace was surprised.

"Have you ever had a bath before?" I asked.

"Not a warm one. I used to bathe myself and Dimitri in a small pond that was strictly off limits. This is the first time." Grace explained.

"I know which pond you're talking about. Levi and I went there too once." I mentioned.

"Really?"

"When we were children." I answered.

"How long have you known Levi?"

"I met him when I was six years old. It wasn't under the greatest off circumstances, but he and his mother saved my life. I was half dead on the street, and they took me in and looked after me. I lived with them for a while until my uncle finally came for me." I explained.

"Your uncle? What about your parents?"

A felt a slight sting on my heart.

"I... got separated from them two years before. My uncle was the only one I had for family. He raised me in the underground, and he worked as a doctor." I explained.

"I'm sorry for asking." Grace murmured.

"Don't worry about it. I'm an adult now so I'm used to talking about it." I answered, as I began cleaning Grace's body.

"Do you have any brothers or sisters?"

"I have two brothers. An older brother and a younger brother." I answered.

"What are they like?" Grace wondered.

"I was also separated from my older brother so I don't know what he's like now, but he was very kind to me. My younger brother... Well for a long time I didn't even know he was my brother. I'm ten years older than him so we didn't have much in common and we lived separately. My father remarried and had a new family." I explained.

"But what about your mother?"

"She was turned into a titan." I answered.

"Titans are actually real?"

"Yes, they are. But you don't have to worry, you and your brother are safe."

"But why was your mother turned into a titan?"

"I don't know. I just remember many of us lined up on a wall, one by one being pushed off and suddenly transformed into titans. My mother tried to protect me, but the only way she could was for me to run away." I explained, remembering the final moments with her.

Soon after, I helped Grace out of the bath and into fresh clean clothes. We arrived to the room to see Levi and Dimitri waiting for us. Dimitri looked squeaky clean. Grace giggled to his grumpy expression.

"What's the matter with you?" Grace asked, trying to contain her laughter.

"He kept pouring water over my face! I swear I was gonna die!! And my eyes kept hurting like crazy! I thought he was going to kill me!" Dimitri yelled.

"If you had just listened to me and stopped squirming, you wouldn't have gotten soap in your eyes. Damn brat." Levi pointed out, crossing his arms.

"I'm not a brat!" Dimitri bellowed.

"Calm down!" Grace scolded. She gave him a hug and he hugged her back tightly.

I helped the two to bed.

"Wow! This bed is so soft!" Dimitri blurted.

"And so warm. I've never felt anything like it. All the beds in the brothel were stiff and stunk." Grace mentioned.

I felt a pain in my chest and quickly tucked them in.

"If you need anything at all, our room is just down the hall. Sleep well." Levi and I made our exit and closed the door behind us.
