Information about the Reiss family was here, but why would father be learning about it?
I tried to read it, but the words were smudged. Like the book got wet before.
"Seriously? Just my luck..." It was impossible to make out a sentence, I dropped the journal on the stable and I leaned my head back, letting out a sigh of annoyance. At the moment, I felt a stinging sensation on my hand. I looked down and noticed a papercut on my thumb, most likely when I dropped the journal. I watched the blood drop from my thumb.
"Surprised it hasn't healed already." I murmured. I licked the blood off and wiped my hand on my pants.
I heard yelling coming from the kitchen. Sounds like things aren't going well. I walked out of the room and saw Eren and Jean arguing and yelling at each other. Connie and Sasha were just watching with surprised expressions. I let out a sigh and crossed my arms.
"This doesn't look like cleaning. What are you doing?" I asked, tilting my head. They all looked at me with shocked expressions.
"Captain (y/n)..." Jean murmured. I blushed when I heard Captain said. No, No, No!!!
"You don't have to call me Captain! Please, it sounds weird. Just call me (y/n) or Doctor if you wanna be nice." I muttered, as I tried to cover up my blushing.
"Ah, okay then..." Jean replied, as he seemed to be embarrassed as well. I noticed Eren sending him a glare, before glancing at me for a moment. I can tell by the look in his eye, that he's still waiting for a response from me. I've probably just confused him when I rejected him.
"You'll understand soon! But not now!"
Just the thought of his reaction to the truth scares me.
Hours have passed, Levi and the others returned. He wasn't happy with the amount of work that was accomplished. He punished everyone by making them run laps. They were required to cook dinner, and I know they weren't happy about it.
Everyone as in the middle of it, when I noticed Connie looking troubled as he was peeling potatoes. The result of his village is still haunting him. His entire village turned into titans, I know first hand what that feels like. I rolled up my sleeves and stood next to him, grabbing a knife and potato. He glanced at me with a slight blush on his face.
"D-Doctor Zaki..." Connie muttered. I flashed him a small smile which caused him to blush more. He really is a shortie, I can't believe someone as small as me is looking down at someone.
"Please, call me (y/n). You're Connie Springer, correct?" I asked, as I began to peel the potato.
"Y-Yes Ma'am." He replied. I giggled to his response.
"I remember you said you were from Ragako, I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your village." I explained.
"Oh, yes, thank you." He replied, in a lower tone. His expression was sad, and I felt bad for him.
"I know how it feels to lose the ones you love in that way. I went through the same thing." I mentioned. Connie looked at me with wide eyes.
"What do you mean?" Connie asked.
"My mother was also turned into a titan, when I was very young, I suspect my older brother suffered with the same fate. You're not alone in this. If you ever need someone to talk to, you can always come to me." I explained.
Connie looked emotional, I think I upset him.
"Thank you, (y/n)..." Connie murmured, as he kept peeling potatoes. "I think the only thing I care about now... is killing that damn ape... I'll never forgive him for what he's done..." Connie explained, as his anger began to show. I patted his shoulder and flashed a smile.
"If you want some advice, don't hesitate to come to me. Consider me your friend." I encouraged. Connie's eyes lit up and he blushed once again.
"T-Thank you... (y/n), I appreciate the advice." Connie mumbled. I looked forward and noticed Sasha gazing at the freshly baked bread. She was practically drooling. From what I've learned about her, her village is in the mountains, so it was a hunter village. But ever since the attack on wall Maria, live stock is limited so her village was suffering for a while. I heard that the first day of training she was forbidden from meals because she upset the Commander.
I walked over and picked up a piece of bread.
"You hungry?" I asked, holding it up. She looked at me and nodded her head, wiping the drool from her mouth. I smiled and tossed her the bread. "Here ya go. Don't tell Levi." I warned, smiling. Sasha let out a gasp of excitement. She put the bread in her pocket, suddenly launching herself at me. She threw her arms around me and pulled me into a tight embrace.
"Thank you!!! You're a Goddess!" Sasha praised. Everyone stopped and looked at us. This is a little embarrassing. I reached up and patted her back.
"Y-You're welcome." I murmured. Sasha was happier than I expected her to be. But that's okay. I think I'll come to like this new squad. I just hope Petra and the others can rest in peace.
"Why is it now you are suddenly thinking about them? It's your fault they're dead. You knew you could have stopped the Female Titan, but you decided to leave your comrades to die. They could have lived a longer life if you didn't get in the way and screw everything up. Didn't you forget what Petra told you? She was in love with Levi, and now that she's dead, you became selfish and made him yours. You really are a monster..."
A sudden pain shot through my head as that voice continued to call me a monster. My eyesight turned black and my consciousness faded away.
"(y/n)!!"
"(y/n)!"
"(y/n)! (y/n)!"
