Chapter 77

Levi's P.O.V

This was never meant to happen. You were not supposed to die today. You promised you'd stay by my side.

"I always want to be by your side."

"The only thing you need to do is live."

"I promise..."

"I'll always be there for you as well, don't think you have to suffer in silence."

"Whether you like it or not, you're stuck with me."

Please don't let me believe they were all lies.

I sat there holding (y/n)'s cold, lifeless body. The squad might not know where I am, so I should go. I stood up silently, placing (y/n) down.

"I'll be back soon." I murmured, as I zipped away.

I managed to find Mikasa and the others, and they all looked distraught.

"Captain... Um, where's (y/n)?" Connie asked.

The mention of her name paints me. Instead, I didn't reply.

"All of you, follow me." I ordered. They looked at each other for a moment, the nodded, flying up with their gear.

We arrived back at the warehouse, not too far from (y/n).

"Sir, where is (y/n)?" Mikasa questioned. I remained silent and stepped forward. Mikasa grabbed my shoulder and turned me around. "Answer me! Is she alright?!" Mikasa was practically yelling at me.

"No..." I murmured.

"Did something happen to her?" Sasha asked, stepping forward. I lowered my gaze and let out a deep sigh.

"Is she... dead?" Jean was brave enough to ask. I clenched my jaw and fists, trying not to lose my cool.

"Y-Yes... She got shot multiple times..." I murmured. Everyone was shocked by the news.

"T-Then where is s-she?!" Armin asked, as he had tears in his eyes. I decided not to answer, and instead I'd retrieve her body. I ran a few minutes to (y/n)'s location. I walked over and noticed she was gone.

I let out a loud gasp.

Where the hell is she?! Is she alive?! What the hell?!

I noticed the pool of blood where she laid. I noticed a trail of dripping blood going off near the windows. She couldn't have walked off with her wounds, even if she was still alive. And it doesn't look like she walked, there would have been at least a few footsteps. Wait a second, there is... But that's way to big to be her foot.

"Shit... someone's taken her..." I murmured, clenching my jaw.

"My name is (y/n) Zaki! You turned me into a monster."

"(y/n)? Oh! Now I remember you! The little runt that I had to collect. Yes, I do remember you well. You ate a few people. I really am surprised you are still alive, and with the small runt in fact."

He knows her identity, and he wouldn't just take a random child and turn her into a shifter. Is it because of her royal blood? But she's dead now... what use could they have with her?

"(y/n)... Why...? Why did you leave me...?" I murmur.

"Kenny and the others tested her titan ability by submitting her to torture, however it was catastrophic, and she ended up eating one of the scientists, fleeting the scene and seeking refuge with the Ackerman's."

Of course she mentioned it... Why didn't I realize it sooner? I didn't it was the Kenny she was talking about.

"I'm sorry... (y/n)... I couldn't protect you... And now you're...."

I fell to my hands and knees, letting my emotions spill out. I haven't done that since...

"Isabel... Petra... and now (y/n)... I'm sorry... I'm such a failure..." I cried, as I watched my tears fall to the ground.

Third Person P.O.V

"Is she here?" Asked a deep monotone voice.

"Yeah she is. It was difficult getting my hands on her, but I got her." Spoke a sly voice.

"Is she safe?"

"Not so much. She attacked me, so I kinda shot her. I dunno if it killed her."

"You idiot! I told her we need her alive!" Shouted the voice.

"Sorry bout that, but I got her, so here she is. Your daughter."

Kenny pulled the cover off the wagon to reveal (y/n) laying lifeless and pale.

"(y/n)!" Sohma rushed over to her body, cupping her cheek. "You're so cold... Dammit Kenny! Why did you have to shoot her?!" Sohma bellowed.

"She attacked me, what, I'm not just gonna let her kill me." Kenny chuckled, as he twirled his hat on his finger.

"Tch, you couldn't knock her out?"

"The runt would have gotten in my way, and I didn't know it was her until after she told me."

"Runt?"

"Little Levi."

"Never mind that, just go to the bar in the meantime." Sohma muttered, as he scooped (y/n) in his arms. He carried her inside the house and laid her on a bed. On the other side of the room were Historia, Eren and Lord Reiss. Rod (Lord Reiss) was hugging Historia and apologizing to her. Eren was on the floor slowly regaining consciousness.

Eren's P.O.V

I saw that familiar man once again. But this time, he was carrying someone. They were covered in blood, so most likely dead. He laid the corpse down and suddenly I instantly knew who it was.

(y/n)!!!

I began squirming, trying to call out to her.

Why is she here?! Why is she dead?!

The man looked at me with sadness in his eyes.

"It's good to see you are awake, Eren. I haven't seen you since you were younger." He spoke.

He does look familiar, who...? Shit! Doctor Zaki!

Sohma walked over and took the mouth guard off. I licked my dry lips and shook my head.

"Doctor Zaki... What..."

"I'm sure you have many questions, and I'm sorry we had to get you like we did. We mean no harm." Sohma comforted. My hands were still tied behind my back, so I was still in non-belief of his words. My looked back over to (y/n) and began to tear up.

"What happened to (y/n)?!" I asked, as my voice cracked. Sohma had an expression of sadness. He stood up and walked back over to her body.

"It seems she got hurt during your rescue."

I let out a gasp. She got hurt because of me?! It's my fault she's dead?! N-No!! She wasn't supposed to die! Not for me!!

"I'm sorry, Eren. Don't hold a grudge, she'll be fine after this."

Sohma opened a suitcase and pulled out a syringe and vile of liquid. He put the liquid in the syringe, moving (y/n)'s blood soaked hair away from her neck. He inserted the needle and injected the syrim.

What's it going to do to her?

(y/n)...

She's always tried to protect me, so much that she's dead. And I couldn't do anything for her...

"Not until I know Eren is safe!"

There were many times where (y/n) has protected me, and now... No... This can't be real... It just can't be...

Suddenly I heard coughing coming from (y/n)'s direction. I looked and saw she was covering her mouth and she was coughing.

"(y/n)?!"
